bring it back

Post by mohicankid » Sat Mar 22, 2008 8:52 am

i got myself a ds about six months ago simply becouse some one told me they were bringing back a lot of retro titles to fill up the list of available games! since then i have seen a few decent games show up on compilations and a good number of re-made classics (bubble bobble, rainbow island, digdug to name but a few)some good some bad!

my question is:- if you could chose the next game to be re-made what would it be and why?
...alternitavly what is your dream compilation (no more than 8 games)
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...

I'd love to see Laser Squad and/or Lords of Chaos on the DS. Two screens would be really handy tactically, touch screen would make issuing orders really easy. Go for Batallion Wars style characters and it could be a winner...

The last credit I've seen for Julian was in the DS version of Chessmaster. Shame you could easily beat the game by playing the same strategy each time.

A compilation of the first four Boulder Dash games, including the construction kit, and based on the A8/C64 version, but offering both 'new' and 'old' graphics (like Bubble Bobble Old and New).

Second choice would be Civ II, with some of the expansion packs and the capacity for at least a dozen saves (unlike Theme Parks' miserly one).

Definately Archon , with perhaps tanks/planes etc instead of monsters

:?:

May I ask why you'd like it changed from the original fantasy setting?

Well , if it's an update , I DON'T just want the same game with flashier graphics - it doesn't need them

However a fresh approach to the game MIGHT be fun - eg Harrier jet vs Abrams tank or bazooka soldier vs flame thrower , perhaps even battleship vs submarine , the possibilities are limitless

Or how about a medieval setting , archers vs knights pikeman vs swordsman , cannon vs catapult - how about catapult vs knight?
there really are some interesting combinations

Also can't understand why North & South has never been copied . Simple combat/startegy games like this work a treat - and update would be most welcome , again with the possibility of altenate settings - one set in the Napoleonic era would be of particular interest to me

Populous is already there, so I suppose that depends on sales.

Why don't you just play one of the Advance Wars games instead?

Because this is 1-on-1 combat
