Welcome, Flat. What, no mid-table mediocrity (or was the German too difficult!)?

And I recognise the name Slick, so welcome, Slick.

it was too many letters actually, there is a 20 character limit and the german for mid-table mediocrity is mittelfeld der tabelle mittelmäßigkeit

Horse manure! I've got 5 players already out of action. :x Apparently they are too fatigued to play this weekend. Utter tosh! Thing is: do I transfer them out for fully fit players, or chance them 'recovering'. I can do without cow pats like this so early in the season. GAH!

And 28 of us is a good league. But we can do better! Come on, folks - join in the fun. :D

Fatigued? The've had a month to recover and some have had longer than that. Players really are pampered these days

Tricky knowing who will play and who won't ; even with fit players, who knows who will play in nets for City or Chelsea? so my tactic is to pick players from the teams who have got an easier start to the season (and who are playing) then play my wildcard when the transfer window closes, so I know who's playing where, what form they're in, what team they're playing for and when they're all fully fit.

Was going to go with my randomly selected team but 9 of them were injured or just rubbish (IMHO - & mostly injured). Full team selected now and a very similar one chosen for the Sky Sports one.

I've got a random team. I know nothing about football and I know nothing about the players (except they are a bunch of overpaid actors that like to prance around the pitch falling over random invisible tripwires, followed by rolling around in extreme agony until the blind idiot in black blows his whistle. Then, once whistle is blown the 'sportsman' that is in agony gets up and runs around after being healed by some kind of Jesus like miracle.)

So, if I get anywhere in this league... Jesus will have played a part in it

Here is the league standing after the first game:

# Team Manager GW TOT

14 Firebreathers Fail steve watson 46 46
14 Abstieg oder Sieg? andy roan 46 46
16 Team Teamy Team Matthew Wilson 45 45
16 Rhysenbourg BK Rhys Wynne 45 45
18 Murdie Marauders Steven McLennan 44 44
18 Team Alfie Craig Hawkins 44 44
18 Chaos Allstars Chris Murphy 44 44
21 Team NTMY Joe Meacher 43 43

23 Arc of a Diver Raffaele Sclafani 42 42
24 Spartak Rosco Ross Phillips 38 38
25 Virtual XI Ed Hale 36 36
26 Stimpson J. County Liam Hughes 32 32
27 dste United Dan Stephenson 25 25
28 Overpaid Mince mark Ambrose 17 17

No doubt Overpaid Mince are exactly where they expected to be. But, surely it is worth a bit of effort to try and fight for at least second last, isn't it? After all, Poloboy, I know nothing about F1 but where was I until the most recent race? One tip: keep an eye on the Transfer list and swap your poorly playing meatballs for prime steak - you don't need to know who's who (I don't!). :D

The table as at the end of August:

# Team Manager GW TOT

1 Winter Is Coming XI H D 50 178
2 pleccy FC Adam Starr 44 170
3 ThingsOnSprIngs barry barber 64 164
4 Scunny Bunnies Gary McGeechan 58 159
5 All you need is DUFF Davey Sloan 57 158
6 Murdie Marauders Steven McLennan 55 151
7 Thelwallians Stephen Owen 50 148
8 Team Alfie Craig Hawkins 48 142
9 Rhysenbourg BK Rhys Wynne 53 142
10 Spartak Rosco Ross Phillips 54 139
11 Balotelitubbies andy roan 46 139
12 Yesterdays Jam Barnaby Whattingham 53 138
13 Chaos Allstars Chris Murphy 55 136
14 Firebreathers Fail steve watson 42 135
15 Patdfb Rangers Rich Hopkins 43 134
16 Cameron Diaz FanClub Mike Endredy 39 130
17 World of Sputryk Richard Davy 46 129
18 Team NTMY Joe Meacher 41 125
19 Maineieg FC jermaine green 29 118
20 Stimpson J. County Liam Hughes 43 118
21 Clueless Utd David Marsden 26 110
22 Walton's Warriors Adam Walton 23 110
23 Virtual XI Ed Hale 37 108
24 Team Teamy Team Matthew Wilson 35 100
25 dste United Dan Stephenson 32 91
26 Fredzakistan Craig Giles 20 89
27 Overpaid Mince mark Ambrose 31 89
28 Arc of a Diver Raffaele Sclafani 16 83

So, the Divers are clearly playing the wrong sport, now being leapfrogged by the cheapsteaks (who were at one point in negative figures!). As for Fred, perhaps too few teams know where the country is to play any games. At the other end Winter has arrived early though pleccy is keeping the chill from the air whilst those Things and Bunnies bounce around in hot pursuit.

The draw for the RGF Cup will take place soon (and I'll cut/paste the rules from previous tournaments), so all 28 teams are involved this time. The league may be open for September via pm, but the Cup is now closed to new entries.

Oh, and here's a pic of me with the WORLD CUP. Yes: I won, not Germany.

If only you had used your Wild Card for those transfers, you would have saved yourself 20 points which would have left you in 23rd place. As it is, you lost 20 points (leaving you on -3!) for the start of the last Game Week. Clearly some good choices made, though. :)

I have had to resort to a Wild Card yet again early in the season. I tell myself each season to hold on to it next time.... 8 changes made in all. I do feel I now have a much stronger squad, and I have a little money left over just in case. Pity I couldn't afford the triple whammy of Sturridge, Falcao and Costa up front. I can always work on that!

Anyone else done the mad post-transfer window transfer scramble. I sold Rooney (I know, but he was awesome for me last season) and bought in Costa. Maybe having three players from my beloved Burnley, while showing club loyalty in hindsight may not have been the best tactical decision...
