Power Strike (aka Aleste)
Power Strike 2

Thunderblade
Favourite 8-bit vertical shooters?

Warhawk on the a8 was a superb game - imho better than the C64 . unquestionably the music is best on A8
Lightforce on the Speccy was bloomin awful - the only thing that made it stand out was the colour scheme with no clash
SWIV on the 8 bits was highly over-rated , a dull and pretty boring game imho , nothing like the wonderful 16 bit versions (or the great 8 bit versions of the original)
Commando on the Speccy was a fantastic scrolling shooter , Super Cobra and ESB on the 2600 , Uridium on the C64 - and of course R-Type on the Speccy was the best horizontal shooter of them all

Not necessarily. All twitch games eventually get boring, but that doesn't mean that they're all equally crap.paranoid marvin wrote:psj3809 wrote:Flying Shark on the Speccy was superb, some great levels. Couldnt stand 1942 on the Speccy, Lightforce wasnt bad, great graphics but boring gameplay
Which surely does make it a bad game?
I actually quite like playing Light Force for what it's worth. It is a game that needs to be learned rather than one that you can play entirely by the seat of your pants though.
Recca Summer Carnival 92 on the Famicom:

More sprites than I've ever seen in a Famicom game before, and a crazy techno soundtrack. This one will cost upwards of £150 for a complete boxed copy!
