Re: Video Game sounds stuck in your head
I realised the other day that when I replace my home phone in its cradle it makes the magic potion noise from Might and Magic 7!

Shinobi: "Welcome to the bonus stage!"
Chase HQ: "Let's go mr driver! Oh man! Bear down!!!"
And the Final Fantasy victory fanfare, which is always the sms tone on my mobile.

The ST version of Strider wails "You dare fight mee?" too. Let's not forget all the samples in Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back though; "I want that ship, not excuses!".
There's a confirmation tone I first heard on the menus in Resident Evil that Konami re-use on loads of their Playstation games.
I've set my phone text-message notification to the sound Konami arcade machines (like Salamander) make when you put a coin in. Though I couldn't find the equivalent SEGA sound as a sample.
One of the best sound effects in arcade games is the noise made when you die in St Dragon.
My previous employer was once supplied with some Korean-made mobile WAP/email readers that had a brilliant version of the Bubble Bobble theme as one of the notification options. Sadly we had to ask them to remove it as we couldn't distribute it like that without breaching copyright. I kept a copy of the OS source code though so I could re-build the system ROM and re-instate it on my own one.
And thinking of music, there's a brilliant Flash game from Nitrome called Skywire that has an in-game tune even catchier than the Bubble Bobble title.

whenever i am at work and pick something off the ground the "beeowoop" sound from Streets of Rage plays in my head.

There are so many . . . .
I always say "Let's go Mr. Driver!" when I get in somebodies car.
I regularly quote lines from Gauntlet, especially when I am hungry.
Quoting lines from Pit-Fighter is not unusual either.
"Oh no!" from Lemmings is another.
And I used to say "POWER UP!" quite often.
Nearly forgot one, when I struggle to get up in the morning "Rise from your grave!"

Re: Video Game sounds stuck in your head
Is it just me that tends to remember samples from games when they're bad translations and make little sense more than your basic 'power up' 'bonus stage' etc? I often find myself asking 'where is the laser? Ask the police' in tribute to Captain America and The Avengers for the Mega Drive and 'You fell to our trap' quoting Xmen arcade.

Mario for me, and I don't even play it that much. The music in the sewers especially. Also the final fantasy winning battle tune.

Been playing robocop on the gameboy again. Those tunes are pretty addictive, cannot stop humming them when out back at work.

Brilliant topic.
The Sonic, Green Hill zone always pops into my mind now and again. As is the startup music.
And the ring effect is my message tone on the mobile, so its always present.
There are a number of FF7 songs stuck in my head, damn you Cosmo Canyon!

a secret sleeping deep in the sea often pops up in my head. love that song. crazy motorcycle chase comes up from time to time too.
the sound fx when jet set willy jumps through the air sometimes pops into my head. mainly because I am convinced that game or manic miner was sampled in the song called maze by actress.
