Re: Bitmap Brothers - Your Favourite Game
I must confess to playing Magic Pockets more than any of their other games.

Bitmap Bros - one of the few coding teams whose distinctive graphical style made them stand out - for good or for ill.
Magic Pockets and Xenon II were way too slow, Gods way too difficult. Xenon is a great (slightly underrated) shooter, Speedball a fun game on the C64. Nothing tops Speedball 2 for me though, from the great music and graphics to the superb gameplay and neat little touches.
Never really got into Chaos Engine 1 & 2 (is 2 better). Remember it being pretty dificult back in the day.

You are all trolls and you're clearly only here to steal my valuable gaming time! I SHOULD be playing BF4 and/or DR3 ...... but nooooooooo, I'm playing Gods on my PSP and my wife and kids are playing Peggle 2 on my ace Xbox One. GDIL.
Re: Bitmap Brothers - Your Favourite Game
CE 2 was pointless. 2 player only, rubbish level design and poor gfx.paranoid marvin wrote:

Who handled conversion of Chaos Engine to MD/SNES, anyone know?.
Scrolling was rubbish on both.

Going to go with Speedball 2 as their best game as it is so much fun.
I think Cadaver is great too, some of the best graphics on the Amiga.

I think it was Renegade who ported it but I'm not 100% on that.Lost Dragon wrote:Who handled conversion of Chaos Engine to MD/SNES, anyone know?.

Re: Bitmap Brothers - Your Favourite Game
I liked Speedball 2 the most...I think.
If not that then it is definately Chaos Engine, it's just a shame it gets rather hard, and imo, unfairly so at times. Liked Gods too, but again it could be very punishing.

Wow Z Steel soldiers had a Ps1 release? I never knew.
Thanks lavalyte I'll add cadaver to my play through list now
Scott me up beamie!
Re: Bitmap Brothers - Your Favourite Game
Chaos Engine was good, but hard and all too easy to get lost in without knowing how to proceed.
I played a lot of Xenon II, but in retrospect the inertia spoils the controls, and the way the baddies happily waft horizontally through your bullet stream without taking a hit is pretty poor going.
So, for me, Gods. Looks amazing and has some pretty clever features. Even though it is a bit clunky, lacking the smooth movement of Leander, for example.

Re: Bitmap Brothers - Your Favourite Game
Ive always loved Gods and still have a blast on Gens now and again. It is very hard though, so once Ive been killed a good few times I use the invincibility code then blast through it. I used to have Chaos Engine on MD back in the day and remember playing it a lot. Never got into the Speedball games though.
Re: Bitmap Brothers - Your Favourite Game
Wait, there's an invincibilty code for Gods?
I knew the level passwords, but not that particular code. Care to share?

Yes, Mega Drive version had an invincibility code that somehow I manage to remember off the top of my head.
