Favourite First Person Shooter?
Ok it's a genre that some don't like (if that's you why are you reading this?), but there's no doubting its impact over the years.
So what is your favourite FPS and why?

Re: Favourite First Person Shooter?
A toss up between Return To Castle Wolfenstein and Tron 2.0
RTCW is enjoyable because it has lots of great set pieces, isn't too long and has plenty of variety. Ton 2.0 because it has a brilliant storyline line, good use of implants (much better than Deus Ex imho) light-cycle game and a brilliant base weapon in the light-disc. It is also criminally underrated and played.

If Half-Life counts as an FPS, it would have to be that.
Re: Favourite First Person Shooter?
Ah! Good idea, split it:
Single Player - Doom on the playstation
Multiplayer - BF2:MC on the 360, still the best online experience I've had and hopefully BF4 will recreate that experience

Goldeneye 007. I could twitter on about the impact and influence that it's had on the genre, but the fact is that it's my favourite because it's really good fun. Simple as that!

Re: Favourite First Person Shooter?
It has 1st person perspective and you shoot stuff so I would imagine it countsIronMaidenRule wrote:If Half-Life counts as an FPS, it would have to be that.

There are sooooo many great FPS games but I think Half-Life 2 is my fave at the moment. Doom has got to be right up there from a slightly more retro stand point also.

Timesplitters Future Perfect. Has a better SP mode than TS2 and the same awesome deathmatches/multiplayer.
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

Duke Nukem 3D because you simply just HAVE to "Hail to the King, Baby"
Re: Favourite First Person Shooter?
Doom is king of single player FPS. Personal format of choice is Playstation for the stonking soundtrack.
Halo 4 is my favourite for multiplayer, although Goldeneye comes close.

Re: Favourite First Person Shooter?
i really can't pick a single game over others, there's too many i've really enjoyed to pick one from.the medal of honour's on ps1 which don't look as good now to frontline on ps2 which i played the hd version not so long ago on ps3.then there's the pc games doom, quake II and half life 2.
other console games like mace griffin which i think gets some grief but i really got a lot out of it,the timesplitters series, republic commando and halo.the more i think the more games i think of (ranbow six and ghost recon games just popped in there),so a favourite fps ?
answer:none but that's not a negative.

Re: Favourite First Person Shooter?
Has to be Doom I think, especially the Jaguar version - I spent hours playing that back in the day.
I also have a soft spot for the original Medal Of Honor on the PS1.
