The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

There might be some other games worth getting for it, but they'd be a good starting five. :D

Totally agree with Eternal Darkness.

I can't believe no one mentioned Skies of Arcadia!!!
Not only is it one of the best games on the Gamecube, it is one of the best RPG's on any console ever.

This is probably very old news, but check out the emulator called Dolphin. It emulates Gamecube and Wii games and in some cases upscales them to HD.

^ thats because its a port of a dreamcast game

and the dolphin is also old news yes

personally i wouldnt even use resident evil 4 as a coaster

so my list wont include it
what it wil include is

smash bros melee

mario kart DD

zelda collectors edition ( twillight princess is arse )

wave race blue storm ( gorgeous water effects )

Only 5? Hmmm that's tougth, so many great games to choose from.

Well firstly I'm going with exclusives only and excluding games released on other systems, so that includes the Resident Evil games, both Pikmins, Twilight Princess, Skies of Arcadia, Viewtiful Joe, Soul Calibur 2, Killer 7, Super Monkey Ball, Beyond Good and Evil etc.

Secondly I'm going to assume you only have a single controller so I'm going to exclude games where multiplayer is the perhaps the main appeal of the game, such as Mario Kart: Double Dash, Wario Ware Inc, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Four Swords Adventures and the Mario Party series.

Which leaves:

Windwaker (probably the best all round game on the system, superb in every department)
Metroid Prime (a masterpiece, but it, play it, love it)
Luigi's Mansion (there are better games but this was a great, new IP that launched the gamecube)
Eternal Darkness (no adult games on the Gamecube? the best survival horror not named Resident Evil)
Rogue Squadron 2: Rouge Leader (like Luigis's Mansion this was another beauty that lauched the Cube)


5 Honourable Games Yet To Be Mentioned:

Metroid Prime 2
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Star Fox Adventures
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Animal Crossing


Much respect to anyone mentioning Chibi Robo. 8)

Must admit to really enjoying Luigi's Mansion; although it's not essential it's still a beautifully charming title.

Blue Storm isn't as good as Waverace on the N64 (imho) , Sunshine isn't as good as Mario 64 and lots of other games are available (and often better) on other machines.

My main issue with the 'cube is that the controllers are uncomfortable and the buttons feel 'spongy' and unresponsive. All things considered, the N64 is a better machine (and has much better controllers)

Can't say I've really had a problem with the controller, I did like the N64 controller but I prefer the Cube's, the Cube's analogue stick is much better, and more durable I've found.

Horses for courses. :) I'm the exact opposite to you. I've bought and sold many N64's in the hope i'd start to feel the love. Nope. For me, nothing feels in the right place when i hold the N64 pad and the analogue stick is just horrible compared to the cube's.

I do have to agree that the Cube's analogue is more robust than the N64's, but I do prefer the N64's library of games.

I'll only mention games that haven't been covered here.

Mario Kart Double Dash - One of the few games to support LAN play with the Broadband Adapter. Also one of the best party games going on the cube.

Phantasy Star Online Ep1&2 - Yes, it is technically a port of a dreamcast game, albeit with several new areas, but it's still going strong with active online play even now through third party servers.

Super Smash Bros Melee - Another great party game.

Pokemon Colloseum / Pokemon XD - If you ever liked the handheld games, then this is the closest you'll get to a full-scale 3D RPG in the series. The plot's around silly "Shadow Pokemon" stuff, and there's no Wild Pokemon encounters in the first (very limited ones in the second), but are essential for completing the national pokedex in the handheld games.

Metroid Prime 2 - I'm personally a fan of the first one, but the second one won't disappoint you.

A Ford Escort may be more robust than a Ferrari, but I know which one I would rather be driving! :D

Tbh though, we all have our favourite controllers, so I'm not going to knock anyone else's choice; it's whatever you feel comfortable with.

The trident really seems to split opinion; I've been playing games since the VCS came out, so I've had my fair share of good and bad controllers. The trident I really liked; although I never broke one, I can see why people may say that they are easily broken. The GC controller with it's squishy buttons amd bright colours made it look more like a toy, I just never got on with it. Strange as I've liked all Nintendo's previous controllers and I really like the design of the Cube itself.

Course it is. :D My hands are massive and definitely not average in any way, so to find a pad that 'fits' me is almost like finding the holy grail!

1 Smash Bros Melee
2 Super Monkey Ball
3 Super Monkey Ball 2
4 Mario Kart DD
5 Zelda Collectors Edition
