I changed to virtual stick when I was playing it, but I think that is just more comfortable when holding the iPad. If it was flat on my knee or a table then the point and move option would be better. The good thing is that it is a floating virtual stick, so you can press anywhere on the screen and not just a tight crosshair. Fabulous game though, kept me up very late last night that did.

Thanks for update about new releases, psj. Pleased to see Limbo on the ipad. Played through that on PC last year. Very memorable game.

Bought Bastion a while back and never really played it. Did the old 'ooh, this looks like it could be good. I'll save it for later when I have more time.'

...months pass...

But after reading the comments here, I think it's time I returned to it.

Lately I've been playing:

Colin McRae Rally.

It's good, but a little flawed. The core game is pretty much as strong as ever, barring a few omissions, but the controls sometimes feel a tad unresponsive. Sometimes it seems like it doesn't steer when you could have sworn your thumb was on the right onscreen button.

Normally I would assume that it was just my mistake... my thumb must have moved, or maybe I was losing control of the car... except the UI menus are so unresponsive on my iphone 4s that they're borderline broken, which makes me wonder if the in game buttons might be slightly glitchy.

But the menus, seriously, you can press a button 2 or 3 times, and each time it lights up show you've pressed it but then nothing happens. You have to keep you finger on it for a couple of seconds before it works. I never before played a game with such unresponsive menus... not just on ios, but on any platform. Would never have expected it from a major studio like Codies.

Still, at least the in game controls are generally reliable enough that the rallying remains enjoyable. Provided you like classic point A to point B rallying, naturally.

As its the 5th year anniversary of the app store theres a fair few freebies out...

http://toucharcade.com/2013/07/08/fifty ... -all-free/

I'm sure a lot you'll already have like Tiny Wings or Infinity Blade 2 etc, but theres some other good ones on the list, Badland is well worth picking up. nice one touch game, great graphics. Remember if you dont have any spare disk space, just download the games and cancel the installation, that way the game will still be associated to your account and you can download at a later time.

Superbrothers is well worth picking up, just for the pixel art alone.

Couple of games today...

Kavinsky
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=195688

Thought it might have been about a firewall but nah wrong spelling ;) Anyway give this a go for sure. Its FREE, doesnt seem to be any IAP's. Its about a french DJ (??) but you press the camera mode and you can have side on, retro side on, press the arcade machine you pass and you then play it in another view. Its like a great retro street fighter/streets of rage game. Later levels it turns into a driving game so looking forward to that, very retro-like, its great

Iesabel
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=195680

Only played a bit of this, looks to be another 'Diablo' attempt, so far so good though, great graphics, seems to be a huge world with quests. This one promises no IAP's. Promising

But check out Kavinsky for sure

Thought a few people might be interested in my interview with Infinite State Games. If you've not played the brilliant Frutorious yet, you should remedy that.

Arrrgh, well this game came out for a few hours and has now been pulled, perhaps they released it accidentally or found some bug they needed to fix.

The games Sine Mora ( http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=196318), looks great, side view bullet hell shooter with steam punk graphics. $5.99 but sounds like a bargain, just wish i could click buy ! Surely should be out soon or in a few days

Come on wheres the love for iOS !

Some good games this week including some retro ones...

Sine Mora
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=196318)
This did come out eventually last week, really good shooter, joystick (not relative touch) but looks great and plays well

Futuridium EP
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=196676
Looks like a type of F-Zero/Star Fox type game, NO tilt either ! (Doesnt work on ipod touch 4 by the way)

Pac-Man Dash
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=196649
I'm not a huge fan of runners, seems to be tons of them every week but i'll give this one a go i must admit as its retro

R-Type
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=196645
EA lost the license or it expired or something, so kings of emulation DotEmu have released it. I must admit i've got the old version from EA (and the one on MAME) but i'll get this to support the devs, should be pretty polished. An arcade classic

I'm completley addicted to Despicable Me: Minion Rush and I have been for weeks now! It's a Temple Run style game, but I'm finding it really addictive! I normally pick it up for "a quick 5 minute game" and I'm still playing it half hour later :D

Someone I know has just released their second iOS game called Bulletrisk for 69p

Its an old school shooter with a difference in that your ship doesn't fire any bullets. You tap the top of screen to send a load of bullets down and then try and navigate them, the more bullets you send the higher your multiplier and score.

Here's the trailer... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fjrd2SocYWY

...and the store link https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/bulletr ... 38443?mt=8

Tried Sid Meier's Ace Patrol last night. Really good turn based strategy game where you control a squadron of WW1 fighter pilots.

How about a game screenshot quiz? Amiga, DOS, Megadrive and Commodore 64.
