Seeing as loads of people are going to say SMB3 which would also be my first choice, I'll plump for Kirby's Adventure.

Yes, it's ridiculously easy and saccharine to the point that you can feel your teeth dissolve but it was pretty innovative for the old breadbox what with the old gumball's ability absorption (I know Mega Man sort of had a similar thing but they're too hard for me! ) but most importantly it's fun.

Double Dragon II

I have lost count of how many times I have completed it and I must played through in 2 player with just about every friend I had growing up.

Donkey Kong/DK Jnr were my faves on the machine. Just the cart I went back to again and again

Whilst certainly not the best game on the NES (that would be Super Mario Bros 3), but my favourite has to be 'The Empire Strikes Back'. Yes it's too hard, but the controls, music and graphics were excellent - the best Star Wars game up to that point.

i am going to have to go for Snake, Rattle and Roll, it looks far better than a NES game should, as usual with Rare a tough game to crack, but a real fun, innovative game.

I bought a NES after I sold my rubbish Master System (I know now that there were good games for that - but at the time I was really really unimpressed).
After buying a couple of games for my NES I realised that it was just as horrible (and uglier) than the Master System that I had sold

So I sold my NES and stuck with the far superior C64. Again, after many many years I did find through emulation that there were some fine games in the NES.

My fave game on the NES... Super Mario Bros. as it was the only game I played and liked when I owned the original system.

That would be Renegade. An improved version of the average coin op. :D

I was originally going to say Duck Tales but upon reflection...

I would have to say Mega Man 2, the feeling of satisfaction felt when mowing through a row of enemies with the Metal Blade for the first time still brings a smile to my face even now

Castlevania 3 had it all. Great music and level design, branching paths, tight controls, and four different characters to play as with their own unique abilities.

Some games are meant to dominate lists, so Super Mario Bros for its simple platforming style...though its no Sonic!

I'd plump for Super Mario Bros 2, Tecmo World Wrestling, Metroid and Zelda!

Megaman 2. The opening is epic and the gameplay was just the right side of challenging.
