I hate them all. Go Go SMS!
New Amiga, SAM Coupé and Speccy games available at http://blackjet.co.uk

Faxandu - This game stays close to my heart always. Personally blows the 8-bit Zelda games out of the water. The music, the atmosphere, the AI and NPC interection really made you feel like you were part of something big. The best action-rpg of the 8-bit era

was never a big fan of the nes and didn't get to play that many games, but as a curve ball the game i remember most fondly is gremlins 2 the new batch,a fun shooter/platformer that i found very challenging but a lot of fun.

Ducktales was one of the best! But the ultimate was Super Mario Bros 3, for sure - the pirated cart we had on sale in South Africa allowed you to cheat to get the whistle and access any world any time!
Re: From the forum issue 118 Favourite NES game
Nothin came close to the Super Mario Bros series in my opinion.

Double Dragon 2 - it's the only game on the NES that actually manages to be better than the arcade original.

Star Wars - for tis the only one I ever played on the original hardware. Doesn't make it any less good, mind.

You're going to get a lot of this, and with good reason: Super Mario Brothers 3. It's not aged one bit, it still plays as perfectly as it ever did. Just brilliant.

That was my second choice!!!Gibberish Driftwood wrote:Ice Climber is my fave.

The only one I've played a bit is Rad Racer, a very average racer. I know this will mark me as a Nintendo hater, but everytime I see a NES in action I feel very lucky to have been a C64 owner at the time

The slightly obscure Conquest Of The Crystal Palace, a groovy little platformer from Asmik, that had a dog you could set on your enemies long before next-gen Call Of Duties...

Shadow Dancer has that as welldeadpan666 wrote:The slightly obscure Conquest Of The Crystal Palace, a groovy little platformer from Asmik, that had a dog you could set on your enemies long before next-gen Call Of Duties...![]()

Good game that Conquest one, good game - there's definitely more Famicom games I enjoy than NES games.
Overall on the NES I'd go with either PinBall (the flippers go invisible if you pass 100,000 points!) or Ufouria: The Saga (loved it so much I finished it first time I played it, when I was intending to just have a quick go to see what it was like).
My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)
