The SMS was my first console and I re-bought around 200 games for the PAL system over past 3 years. However I had a big clearout before christmas as most of them are crap, especially Smash TV, that's a terrible, terrible game.
My personal faves that are still great today:
Teddy Boy
Phantasy Star (if a little slow by todays RPG standards)
Fantasy Zone 1 and 2
Shinobi
Sonic 1 and 2
Columns (the best version of this classic game)
Asterix
off the top of my head.

Most of these have been mentioned already, but here's my favourites for the MS:
Wonderboy in Monsterland, Wonderboy 3, Psycho Fox, Shinobi, Power Strike, California Games, Castle of Illusion, Fantasy Zone, Fantasy Zone 2, Fantasy Zone The Maze, New Zealand Story, Spellcaster, The Ninja...

No one pays enough attention to how brilliant that game was! Would love to see that series make a comeback on the DS.AC wrote:Echo all of the above, especially Wonder Boy III : The Dragon's Trap.
Also look at Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse, and Land of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse.
