Re: Laserdisc Player question please help....
I keep meaning to pick one of these up. I found one at a car boot a while back for £4. it weighed a ton but didn't have any leads so I offloaded it on Freecycle.

Re: Laserdisc Player question please help....
I'm not sure what CLD and LD varieties of LaserDisc are (?) but the first column of the table present within that article I linked shows what it plays in addition to the article stating the player has "5-Disc Compatibility (CD, CDV, LD)". I know it plays LDs, CDs and mini CDs. Surely LD just means LaserDisc?! I did a fair bit of research before deciding on which model LaserDisc player to try sourcing and from the very favourable linked review I went for that one - I can't believe it cost £800 when new!oldtimer wrote:Nice one!

Re: Laserdisc Player question please help....
LDs come in two sizes. There are the 12-inch ones that you'll see most often, but there are also 8-inch discs that are much rarer.
CDV is a 5-inch disc format that was used for video singles during the late 80s and early 90s.

Throw in the two sizes of CD and those are your five formats.

Thank you for the clarification - I never knew 8" LDs existed!

Re: Laserdisc Player question please help....
im not suprised it cost £800 , its a high end player,
Not all Laser disc players play all discs though, ive actually got 8 of them now, and they are not all compaitble with all discs, ive got a Laser disc player that was actually used for the Dragons lair laserdisc game, and its operated via one of my computers ,
Also the CED Discs are quite different ,these are read by a floating needle, .
Yours has has got a real good spec, real nice.

Thanks for the reply, oldtimer.
Your Dragon's Lair setup sounds VERY nice indeed. I know the 'game' has since been released on Blu-ray Disc but, to me at least, what you have is far cooler than that.

Re: Laserdisc Player question please help....
i was suprised to actually find it tbh, i bought it for a pittance from a boot sale, got it home with a few discs and founf out then, it can be run independantly of the computer via a simple remote, but i found all the Keyboard commands off the internet, so its working nicely nowDreamcastRIP wrote:Thanks for the reply, oldtimer.![]()
