Re: Now That's What I Call Music!
May be worth investing in one as Vinyls making a bit of a come back now, Ive got one on my stereo and mums got one put away for me for christmas that can go up to 78rpm so I can play the really old records.

Re: Now That's What I Call Music!
Good work sir! Don't get excited about the 78s though, the sound quality is pretty awful..... I've got a bunch in an original "Record Album", which is like a photo album for storing 78 rpm records. (Found by the side of the road in Brighton a few years back!) They are even more fragile than vinyl as most are pressed from shellac which is very brittle and has a tendency to shatter.Sega2006 wrote:May be worth investing in one as Vinyls making a bit of a come back now, Ive got one on my stereo and mums got one put away for me for christmas that can go up to 78rpm so I can play the really old records.
The ones I have are almost all on His Master's Voice or Parlophone and are all from 1900 - 1910 I think.....lovely things to own, unfortunately my 1200s don't go up to 78!
Re: Now That's What I Call Music!
Ive already played some 78's to test it to make sure my mother didnt get ripped off, my granpa had kept all of his, even the very first one he bought which he would have played on a His masters Voice unit that needed a new needle each play (incidently they had one in the shop we got mine from for £80), when he passed away my mother had them and I put a couple on when I did the test.

I'm hopelessly sentimental when it comes to vinyl, I'm really glad they are being looked after.Sega2006 wrote:Ive already played some 78's to test it to make sure my mother didnt get ripped off, my granpa had kept all of his, even the very first one he bought which he would have played on a His masters Voice unit that needed a new needle each play (incidently they had one in the shop we got mine from for £80), when he passed away my mother had them and I put a couple on when I did the test.
On a related note, I'm doing a 360 mile round trip next weekend to pick up a "room-full" of records for free! Someone on another forum mentioned that a guy in their family had died, he had thousands of records and nobody knew what to do with them. From what I can gather it was his lifelong hobby, he collected anything and everything - I offered to take them off their hands as otherwise they are going in a skip

God knows what I'll find in there, just couldn't bear to know they were getting thrown away so I'm hiring a van and heading across the country to give them a good home.

At a car boot sale about a year or so ago, I found Now 1 on vinyl, and in rather good condition as well. Gave it a blast on the turntable, some good stuff on there.
I think Now 1 got reissued as a special edition CD a while back to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Now. Mind you, the early ones with the pig were classic!

Re: Now That's What I Call Music!
Looks like Now 4 on CD has resurfaced again for one bargain hunter!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOW-THATS-CAL ... 4ab381b8b7
Its quite cheap at the moment (£15 at the time of typing) but watch it go up to £300 in the next few days. Theres also another Now 4 CD for sale on Ebay and its just the single CD, no jewel case, no inlay... just the CD and currently its going for £35 and theres still a few days.
I'm an avid collection who has every CD from Now 11 onwards. The early ones are just outside of my budget!
The early Now's had different logos for the Now logo, it wasn't until Now 20 that the Now logo that we all recongise became established.

Re: Now That's What I Call Music!
Just downloaded volumes 1-68 of the Now albums. This should be a fun few weeks of listening...

I have the now 17 VHS and CD, still one of my favourites. So many good memories tied up with when this came out. Sydney Youngblood, the Rebel MC, Candy Flip, D-Mob....
Re: Now That's What I Call Music!
Sorry for the thread bump... Looking for someone that has Now That's What I Call Music, Volume 1 as an audio cassette. I noticed thl had mentioned they had it. I'm not looking to buy, but rather, I'm doing an annual scavenger hunt and one of the last items I need is a picture of Now 1 Audio Cassette with a specific note in the picture, which I can provide the wording for.
Can anybody help with this?
Thanks in advance. The hunt ends tonight, and I've been searching for 2 weeks for Now 1 Audio Cassette...
