So, wanting a C64.....
.....but wondering, where the heck do I get one (and some games)?
Been thinking about this for awhile, since I have real funds now, and I've always wanted a C64 but never had one.... bout time I changed that.
I prefer though to avoid Ebay whenever possible, but I dont know where else to look.
So I ask you all, where do you guys go online if you want to order something like that? IS there other places to go? And finally, any idea on what kind of price to look for, for one of these?
I dont normally order things except for imports from Play-Asia, so I'm a bit clueless on this one. Any help is much appreciated!

Don't be silly. Nothing wrong with buying from eBay, just pull your socks up man and get it bought.
I always find it strange when people refuse to use eBay, for a collector that's a death knoll. I've been a member there since 2001ish, I've been through every possible situation from theft, dodgy charge backs, threatened neg's etc. etc yet I've still amassed close to 2000 positives. There's nothing to be afraid of and I wouldn't have had such a huge retro setup without it. Man up, paypal offers decent enough protection
You could try joining the Lemon64 forums as that's UK, someone might be selling one in trading.

1, I'm not used to ordering things, really am not. I'm not too fond of the idea, really.... I prefer to get things from actual stores whenever possible. Obviously though, I'm not gonna walk into a store and just find a C64 on display..... feh.
2, some unpleasant experiences with Ebay in the past. And also just with ordering things in general.
and finally: 3. I just like having options. Right now, Ebay is the ONLY place I'm really aware of. I do prefer to have more than one area to look in if at all possible.

E-bay is a brilliant resource for retro gaming. It’s a bloody wonderful service.
And this bird you'll never change...

Misery,
I'm currently selling a fair few of my C64 games, some of which are duplicates of what I've already got.
The forum does prevent spamming of items though (humble apologies if the original post was deemed that way), and do bear in mind they'll be PAL, not NTSC as I believe you're based in the USA.

Bear in mind that Misery is in the US and most of our C64s and games will be PAL with 240V PSUs.

Think you have to go back to ebay, dont be scared of it !
Yeah i've had some bad experiences on ebay but 99% of the time its been fine. If you were buying expensive items or that i can understand why some people might get paranoid (my dad would never buy anything on ebay) but for cheap C64 games then it has to be ebay, theres plenty of retro shops out there so deal with them direct. Buy one game, if they do a good service then PM the person and ask if they have a webshop etc as i'm sure they'll be happy to sell to you direct so they cut out ebay fees
But ebays not all that bad ! Or buying online etc, you're sounding like my gran who has a cold sweat whenever i tell her i buy items online !

We've got a lot of American members on Amibay, many of whom love Commodore.
If you stick up a wanted ad or visit Lemon64, I'm sure you'll find one in short order.
