what was going on with daytime school tv back then
Remember back in the day when there used to be school programmes on channel 4, and there would be big gaps between each programme that had a picture of a clock with a kind of synth/prog rock tune in the background. I remember once at school the teacher was ill so she put on school TV, and when the music was playing we all sang along to the tune because we all knew it!

Yeah, we used to do that as well - along with hand and arm movements (think calypso style).parappa wrote:I remember once at school the teacher was ill so she put on school TV, and when the music was playing we all sang along to the tune because we all knew it!

Wow, that music's been stuck in my head for most of my adult life, and I had no idea where it came from. Now I do! Cheers for that

I was always freaked out by this spelling programme that had a floating Ball in it and a creepy bit part as his actor - strike a chord with anyone? I think it had a literal title like speak and spell or something.

Never really saw BBC schools stuff, couldn't really receive BBC2 properly until about 1994!

I think the gap was a grace period for teachers to setup their VCRs to record it.
