Mine would be something like this....

Arcades (I can remember Gun Fight as being one of the first games I ever played...I probably started going to arcades about 1982)..

Atari 2600 (at my cousins)

Some sort of TV Pong game (my first system)

Game & Watches and Grandstand tabletops (Various, including Munch Man, BMX Flyer, Donkey Kong, etc.)

Commodore 64 (spent ages playing it at my mates and ending up wanting one, but instead got a...)

Spectrum +2a (and eventually ended up loving it way more than the C64)

Atari ST (again played loads at another of my mates)

Super Nintendo (My next machine after the speccy)

Sega Megadrive (Played at a mates, but wouldn't own one for a few years..)

N64 (stayed loyal to Nintendo...lot of good games, but not enough, leading me to buy a..)

Playstation (which I bought loads of games for, but then I also started working so was able to buy a load of retro consoles and computers including....)

Commodore Amiga (despite dabbling in my youth, I never really started Amiga gaming until I found one for a tenner at a car boot sale..)

Sega Saturn, Commodore 64, Megadrive, (all bought at car boot sales...)

PS2 (My next big purchase, mainly bought so I could play my ps1 games with better graphics...)

Gamecube (picked up cheap at a car boot sale)

Xbox (lovingly gifted to me as a birthday present from my cousins)

Xbox 360 (after being impressed with the Xbox, picked this up free with a phone contract)

Wii (play on my mum's Wii which she bought for Wii Fit...only got a couple of games, but will be buying more for it soon..)

Mame and emulators for pretty much everything else (along with the 360 and Wii, I now play all the old classics on MAME and with a little help from the Retroleague, have even started dabbling in Atari 800 games and the like...and of course still gaming on all the old consoles and computers, most of which I still own too!)

Some Binatone TV game.
Various tabletop and dedicated handheld electronic games
Amstrad CPC 464 (f**k off, it was a brilliant micro)
Atari 1040STFM
Master System
Xbox 360

I've owned most other machines at various points but they were bought retrospectively through the mid 90's to mid 00's. The systems above are the machines I was using when they were still contemporary systems on the market.

Started off with a CPC464, which my brother and I got as a joint present when I was about 4/5 (I know it gets quite a lot of stick on here, but I've years of fond memories of it nonetheless!). Simply had to have a Megadrive for my birthday in about 1993 after being absolutely blown away by seeing the one my mate over the road had got the previous Christmas, and again was quite happy playing and collecting for that for many years. Bit of a phase of PC CD-ROM gaming for about a year or so in the late 90s, before I found out about this thing called 'emulation' and started falling back in love with my old 8-bit and 16-bit favourites all over again!

Finally got a PS1 off eBay a few years back, and in recent weeks a Saturn and an N64 bought from two fellow RG forum members. :) Since that gen completely passed me by at the time (as have the subsequent gens really!), I'm looking forward to getting hold of a few of the best titles for those systems and seeing what I've been missing out on.

When you think you've got problems you don't really need,
They're maybe not as bad as they seem,
Cos in a world full of misery, with hatred and greed,
Your problems are another man's dream.

Atari 2600
BBC Micro
Mega Drive
DC and N64 - both bought 2nd hand in the early 2000s

Also played extensively on Amiga 500, Spectrum, Neo Geo Pocket, Game Gear, Master System, PS3, SNES and NES over the years.

I grew up in a peasant family, so up until the ps1 I got the machines very late in their lives, when they were cheap. Once I started to earn myself, I usually waited 6 months-1 year before buying a new machine.

Gameboy Colour.
Neo Geo Pocket.
