Re: Batman games
Batman NES for me; my grandmother picked it up at a car boot sale years ago for 50p. Brilliant game, even though I've never beaten it.
The GB Batman is a close second, a game that I beat without upgrading the gun.

Batman Returns (Lynx) is the hardest game in the world, probably.
Re: Batman games
I've always been a fan of the Snes version of The Adventures of Batman and Robin. Based on the 90's animated series it captured the look and sound of the cartoon perfectly and each level was loosely based on an episode (or episodes) of the series. A nice mix of platforming and action with a load of different gadgets to play with its still my favourite retro Batman game.
The Game Gear version of Batman Returns is great fun as well, a nice tough little platformer that is incredibly addictive.
Then of course there's the lates Batman game - Arkham Asylmn which I really enjoyed, again capturing the series pretty well and was a nice mix of exploration, combat and lite stealth. I just wish the detective stuff wasn't so straight forward but the sequel might go a ways to fix that.

Re: Batman games
I know it's not exactly retro but my favourite Batman game has to be Arkham Asylum.
Failing that though, it would be Batman - the Movie on the Spectrum

Loved Batman:Caped Crusader (ocean) on C64-Really captured the comic book feel with the graphical style (comic windows) and mix of fistycuffs and detective work.the ST/Amiga game based on the movie was superb as well.
MCD Batman Returns:3D sections gobsmacking! still look smart today.
Liked Tim Follin music for PS1 Batman+Robin (although game was arse)

Tried it on Emulation, it's not bad, prefered Revenge Of The Joker-Lovely big sprites, great use of colours, really nailed comic book feel.Fred83 wrote:MD batman sunsoft game is supposed to be good, anyone confirm that?.

Re: Batman games
Arkham Asylum is my fave Batman game, it's incredible. Retro-wise, the only other one I remember is Batman on the Gameboy, an adaptation of the 1989 movie. I seem to remember running around shooting every bad guy, precisely what Batman doesn't do!

Re: Batman games
My favorite retro Batman game would have to be Batman The Movie on the Spectrum and Amiga. It took everything that was great about the film and made it into a great game. Loved Arkham Asylam as well, as it mixed stealth with action perfectly. Honerable mention must go to Batman Returns on the SNES for just being great.
On a side note, did anyone find Batman Returns on the Mega Drive just too damned hard and unfair?

for me it will always be batman returns on the md only because it was rock hard but i finished it.the modern gen one is spot on though and i've got high hopes that the next will be even better.
Re: Batman games
Really? I have finished it without much of a problem. Rather fine game too, really captures the feel of the movie.Liamh1982 wrote:Batman Returns (Lynx) is the hardest game in the world, probably.
I like Batman Forever on the Saturn too.
