TwoHeadedBoy wrote:Just read through three issues of Electric Soup, a Scottish Viz-alike from the early Nineties which is shockingly good. Frank Quietly's artwork is wonderful, this is one comic I'd recommend to... Most people. There's a strip in there called The Wilderbeestes which is one of the funniest things I've ever read.
I wouldn't mind picking some Electric Soup up, I'm a massive fan of Quietlys work.

I've gone back to buying The Beano & Dandy every now & then & I've also bought a few graphic novels recently, although not read them yet.

A day out in Manchester always sees me going home with a backpack full of comics. Found #11 of Zap Comix (leaving me maybe four or five away from a full set), one of Marvel's Beavis & Butt-Head comics, a translated manga from 1985 called Shuriken, and a massive carrier bag full from our good friend The Hawk containing plenty of Busters, Nippers, Beanos, Dandys and Big Comics :D
My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

Beano, Dandy, Hoot!, Whizzer and Chips, Roy of the Rovers, Commando (mainly on holiday), Look-In (that's right!). Got a couple of 200AD books but never really warmed to it.

I have a vague memory of reading a Transformers comic/book in bed - and reading it out loud because I still hadn't learnt to read in my head!

Used to love the summer bumper specials. Loved the Beano sticker albums as well.

Wow! When I created this thread, I never expected it to reach 13 pages, quite a feat for me. Interesting read too. :D

Yes! Totally forgot about my Zap Comix, still got a stash of underground stuff I never got rid of, Crumb, S. Clay Wilson, Mavrides, Gilbert Shelton, Spain etc.. Bought my first Weirdo comic (the 'Orange Julius' cover) when I was 15, got all obsessive about trying to get a full set but censorship laws back then didn't permit me to, probably got about half the issues but this flashback might cause me to seek the others out! :D

Yeah, go for it! A lot of the stuff in them is still fairly shocking today, understandable how it got banned "back in the day" what with all the incest and penis-chopping and stuff.
