Best 2-Player games on SNES / NES to play with Girlfriend

Post by ChipTune » Mon Jan 31, 2011 9:44 am

I have a NES and SNES and have discovered that my gf is quite keen on certain games and we have had a blast playing Balloon Fight (NES) and Kirby's Ghost Trap (SNES)

Was wondering what other titles may be fun.. she hates fighting games and run n gun games and we have things like Mario Kart and Micro Machines..

so anything fun that might be worth a shot, either vs or co-op on these two systems?

Cheers

Good one for the NES is New Ghostbusters II: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Ghostbusters_2

But make sure you don't accidentally get Ghostbusters II: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters_II_%28NES%29

Confusing I know, but the first one is an excellent Japanese and European only game, developed by HAL Laboratory (makers of Kirby). It uses super-deformed graphics and plays from an overhead view, similar to Zelda. One of you zaps the ghosts, the other traps them.

The other game was released by Activision and is quite terrible. You can distinguish the cartridges quite easily, as the HAL version uses a black background, while the Activision version has a blue background (same on the box art).

Is the girlfriend a gamer at all, or a completely never-played-video-games-in-my-life sort of person?

Any Bomberman related stuff goes down a treat. I play bomberman with my girlfriend and it's a great laugh. Mind you I have Mega Bomberman for the Sega, so I don't know how good the SNES/NES versions are, I'm guessing theys be similar.

cheers guys.. firstly Unirally = good shout, played that together a while back on emulator

She is a casual gamer, not in the crappy 'wii fit' kind of way, she likes puzzley games, currently MOLE MANIA & Kirby's Ghost Trap and pipe dreams

She is 25, not sure that makes a difference though.. she is legal if thats what you're asking

Pac Attack on the SNES? I'm sure that had a 2 player mode.

Puzzle Bobble is a firm favourite in this house, but aside from that my wife isn't too much into games.

Oddly, the one glaring exception to this is Final Fight. She said I sold her on it with my dazzling synopsis: "He's a mayor who beats up ladies and eats chickens out of bins!".
