Top 5 retro purchases of 2005
Following on from Hand Solos thread about games, thought I would expand it to anything retro gamey.
My top 5 would be...
Dreamcast console - thank you Sega for using normal CDs (and thank you Shareaza!!)
GamesTM Retro Anthology - Filled the gap between RG18 & RG19
Fairchild Channel F console - The weirdest controllers ever!!
New PC - allowed me to use my old one to convert my Jamma arcade cabinet to MAME
Amstrad GX4000 console - just because it looks cool!

Top five for 2005... Okay, i'm game;
The 1541 Mk2 and Zipstik i got from the local Blockbuster for £20 total.
USB Competition Pro that is a little laggy, but the games feel more right now.
Yet another Dreamcast since we keep wearing 'em out!
C64DTV - lets the kids play C64 games without my breadbin taking a hammering, sorted!
Tickets to BIT Lite/Retrovision Mini because they were both brutal for the bits i remember. =-)

Hmm.... *thinks*... well no order here...
1) Modified parallel port 1541-II unit for transfering originals to backup (thank you Markus Brenner).
2) Some damn fine rare Vic20 carts for not that much of a price.
3) Gauntlet III for C64 (thank you Andy Roberts!).
4) Being given Elvira II C64 (thank you Merman!).
5) Acquiring complete copies of Pole Position, Star Castle, lightpen utilities and a few other assorted Vectrex goodies for way under value over in the US at the CGE auction.

You know where I'm coming from <wink>, Just wish I had time to give the Shenmue's the play they deserve.Dudley wrote:Sega didn't use normal CDs, the console just happens to be able to boot them.SirClive wrote:Following on from Hand Solos thread about games, thought I would expand it to anything retro gamey.

That's some unholy luck you have there Merman...merman wrote:Best buy?
That would have to be raffle tickets at retro events, because I won:
- a Dreamcast, and a bundle of PC games (at Retrovision)
- an Atari TV console (at CGEUK)
- a JAMMA cabinet (at the Retro Ball)
Sorted!

not on the scale or merman, but I went into a 2nd hand shop on saturday and bagged the "Ultma Collection" on PC CD. Great condition containing all 10 or so ultima games.
If that wasn't bargain enough, rubber banded to it was the official strategy guide of said compilation!
all for £2
Ebay here I come!
