Things changed over the last 20 years
I,m just expanding the topic from before the internet.
Things like tellys(normal to widescreen to flat(plasma & LCD), letters to e-mail & forums, use of mobile phones, videos to DVD, from home computers to consoles, analogue to digital, Laptops, satnav, from LP to CD to Digital downloads & having in car extras eg: air con & ABS.
Funny we could do without some of these years ago but now can't live without it.

Although technology is an evolutionary animal, I think that its ironic that the mobile phone is as now as synominous to wearing a watch, I held out for the longest time, after all I believe a phone is for Your own benefit not anyone elses, hence I do turn off my mobile more often than not.
Other things like analog to digital is infact an evolution of technology, as with the saftey improvments in cars but were as the mobilie phone is conserned its not only that but is also an evolution of society, both locally, nationaly and globally, pretty much the same as the internet =)

Re: Things changed over the last 20 years
Watching The Long Good Friday last night, it seemed strange that they were leaving people behind to 'ring around' and gather people. Others hadn't heard any news until someone showed up in a car and told them. Contact details would be 'I'll be at the Casino'.
Mobile phones have really changed things. Everything is instant now, its hard to remember being out of touch and unavailable like that.

Money!
Having to go into the bank to ask a cashier for your money before the 'hole in the wall' really took off.
The horror of having to send a personal cheque when mail order shopping.
Or, if you were lucky enough to own a credit card (American Express or Diners Club, of course
the sales assistant would have to ring it through one of those enormous metal contraptions that produced a carbon receipt for your purchase!!!

Wanting to know the answer to just about anything - you either asked your mum/dad or best mate - and had to take their answer as gospel

Re: Things changed over the last 20 years
One of the most simple things that always gets me now is 'rewinding' VHS tapes. I'm 24 so I had a good few years of VHS - I remember spending over £100 just to get a Babylon 5 VHS collection started - but nowadays the idea of having to rewind something watch it again is really odd!
Also, I'm a happening young dood but I seriously hate mobile phones. I think going to the pub or round someones house party or anything and then sitting around texting are really, really rude. It's a pet hate. I refuse to talk to people if they are doing anything with a mobile other than something social: taking pictures and winning arguments via Wikipedia are allowed.

Attitudes towards "health & safety", words you are not allowed to say any more (or shouldn't), jokes you can't tell (for fear of offending another person or group of people).
The last "old" thing I watched was the brilliant Life On Mars. I just love seeing how much things have changed in the last 35 odd years.
Mannerisms that would now land you in hot water - think lightly slapping a cute girls ass in the workplace.
Equal Opportunities and all that jazz.

Some good things;
*Being able to write record and produce professional sounding music on your computer.
*Decent Sandbox style games like Fallout 3. GTA IV
*Mp3 players for portability instead of lugging around a box of tapes/CDs.
*Minimum Wage introduced
*DVD's that tell you trivia through docs & commentary about your fav films.
Some bad things;
*Paying over a pound now for petrol
*Cameras everywhere invading our privacy
*Speed bumps
*Council Taxes
*My receeding hairline!
