Pre orders for Wii and PS3 ?

You can pre-order,but when it comes to puttin a deposit down for the ps3, you'll have to pay £150,apparently sony are telling retailers this is what they are gonna have to charge. There could be a couple of reasons for this,to stop people buying more than 1 console, and then floggin them on ebay, also to put enough people off pre-ordering, so they can meet the launch demand, and avoid the 360 scenario!
Indeed, I wish I'd never bought my 360 on launch. Those vicious price drops have been a censored.I can never understand people buying consoles on launch day. Wait 2-3 months and save yourself a bunch of money.
Oh wait...
And all those price drops int he last 11 months on the PSP. If only I'd waited I could have saved about £2 and not had the bother of playing all those superb games for the last near-year.

I think people who order PS3's to sell on ebay could be very disappointed. They may not be as popular or in-demand as people think.

People just don't pay £500+ for a console
the PS1 was expensive enough (£300 if I remember rightly?)
but this is just ridiculuos
Now usually companies run at a loss on sales of their games machines, making their money back with the software
so it looks like there must be some expensive stuff going into it

Hell, there are people out there who'll pay that much for the latest graphics card for their PC, never mind a whole system.paranoid marvin wrote:People just don't pay £500+ for a console
Of course it could all be pre-launch hype, or just an early adopter price, with the real price being significantly lower. That would soften the still expensive blow for some.
Me, I'm not that bothered. I don't tend to listen to anything pre-launch, as there are too many rumours and CGI. Once hardware hits shelves, then I pay attention.

Of course people will buy it. Maybe not us, but loads of people will. If they've got £40 to throw at FIFA every six months then they'll just steal a few more car stereos one week and buy the PS3.
Sony have a stranglehold on the UK market so they can do stuff like this. They might have less success in other territories, but the 'casual' gamer in the UK will buy the PS3 because "OMG it's £500 so it must be teh best thing EVA!!". Nintendo calling their console Wii is likely to be more off-putting than a £500-£600 price tag.
Mark my words. As far as the UK is concerned, Sony will win round three as well.

I agree I think he's wrong as well I think the 360 could win round 3. Theres bound to be a price drop around the launch of the ps3 and the secound wave of games coming out same sort of graphic power as the ps3 most people around the net are saying they'll get a 360 and a wii as a secound console.

Then you're WRONG too. You and marvin should start a club called "The WE'RE WRONG Club". I'd like to join but I can't, seeing as how I'm not wrong and everything.retro mania wrote:paranoid marvin wrote:Well ,I think you're wrong-but we'll soon see...
