Well Smila and co have done a fantastic job on the other games they remade - bit strange to see them release one for money though. They always loved to slap the warning message at the start of their games saying that if you purchased the game, you have been done as it's free.

BUT

If that is the way they are going now, then good luck to them.

Given the quality of Smila's work I'd happily pay, especially to have a CD boxed n'all

Gonna be spending a bit this month by the look of things, Creatures 2 re-release, Armalyte re-release and now a PC release of Armalyte, gonna cost me a small fortune

Im more partial to Vulcans myself. The Kilngon women like it a bit too rough and Romulans have a bit of a whiff about them....

This is the first properly licensed and officially endorsed remake made by Smila and co. and after all the amazing stuff these guys have given away for free in the past I thought it would be nice for them to get a few bob for their efforts (+ the original creators of the game will receive royalties too) - this is why it's being released through Psytronik Software. Don't worry, you can still "try before you buy" as level 1 will be given away as a downloadable demo.

As Armalyte PC will be released on CD-ROM it means it can contain much more than their usual remakes (and lots of extra goodies too). The white Wii style packaging is awesome too. :D

Here's an in-game shot to whet your appetites!

Smila's Wizball conversion was fantastic, so it's hard to imagine that this isn't going to be worth buying. Looking forward to it! Oh, and kudos to Dan Phillips and Andy Roberts for their gesture in permitting the venture. Great to see developers being selfless with their IP.

That C64 game on the same page, Knights Grail, was almost as interesting - it looks brilliant!

I am quite happy to pay. The fantastic artwork on the Psytronik stuff alone is worth buying their games for!

No probs matey, still a few details to work out RE the pricing as I have to factor in getting the game properly duplicated but the pre-order page should be up next month some time. Like I said in the blog I'll be offering free P&P for everyone who pre-orders it. :)

I may have come across as a little bit grumpy in my first reply! But let me just say that I have downloaded almost every game Smila has been involved in - and commented on this forum about just how bloody good they have been!

SO yes, I will deffo be buying this - and I am 100% behind these guys making some money out of the retro scene for a change. :D
