GameGear Recommendations Please... if any!

Post by mick_aka » Sat Sep 06, 2008 12:49 pm

Really eed to expand my GameGear library, but is there anything worth getting?

I have Sonic 1&2, Streets of Rage 1&2, Star Wars, James Pond and 007 the Duel but I would like to know if there is anything else worth owning on the system?

Unlike most GameGears mine is used almost daily, taken to work, trains, on holiday etc.

So what do all you Retro Gamer reading folks recommend?

If you liked Sonic 1 and 2 then Sonic Triple Trouble is a must. Its in my opinion the best Sonic game on the system, and exclusive to the Gamegear as well.
Golden Axe: Axe Battler is another good game with is kinda like Gargoyles Quest in the way half of the game takes place in a top down perspective where you move from town to town etc. and when you battle/go into dungeons it changes to a side on 2D platformer perspective.
Both Shinobi Gamegear games are must haves, some of the best platformers on the system.
Also check out Land of Illusion, probably my favourite Disney game by Sega.

I've a soft spot for Space Harrier on GG.

Aliens 3 is my 'must have' game for it though and I'm not averse to Ecco either.

Also if you're lucky, try get hold of the Master Gear converter which allows you to play Master System games on the Game Gear.

The Game Gear does use the Master System adapter (which is 9V 850mAMP) and it works fine.

GG Shinobi is great, totally different to the home console versions.

I'd have to say the best games from my rather paltry Game Gear collection are:

The Lucky Dime Caper,
Master of Darkeness,

and is it too obvious to mention columns?

The TV tuner is worth adding to the list.
