Quality SRPGs on any system?
I do like a good SRPG to have on the go, and whilst I await some of the 360 titles to appear over here (Spectral Force 3 and Operation Darkness) I want something from the vast back-catalogue of gaming to tide me over.
I've played many of the established classics - Shining Force I, II and III, Vandal Hearts, Final Fantasy Tactics (both Advance and the PSP title, not interested in the latest one), so am looking for something else. What is there?
I want something accessable and not overly-complex - Shinig Force II, for example was quick and user-friendly, whereas the FF:Tactics games are just too 'busy', with too many jobs and characters - it drains the fun out of it. So what does that leave? Recommend away!

Quite a few people have recommended to me Ogre Battle on the Nintendo 64. I Haven't got round to playing yet myself as I'm currently slogging my way through the Final Fantasy remakes on GBA and DS, not to mention Tactics and VII on PSX (I came rather late to the FF party but now I'm hooked
).
It's also worth checking out as it's a N64 game that features 2D graphics! Lovely sprites everywhere! On N64!

Fire Emblem is a definite one...on GBA, GC, and now Wii i think (?). Those games are really cool, and i agree with the FF:Tactics being a bit too complicated as FE seems to get it just about right.
Depends on how much of an RPG you want in there really, as most of them are just a shade above normal strategy games. Fantasy General was awesome and worth hunting down for the PC.
Gladius for Xbox is a MUST
That game rocks!

Yeah - like Shining Force were the battles play out turned based but there is still and story and all that. Final Fantasy Tactics springs to mind also. Don't really play em myself they aint my thing.RetroKingSimon wrote:In other words, not action-RPG's like Zelda?Mootown wrote:Strategy?RetroKingSimon wrote:What does the 'S' in SRPG mean?
