I didn't even realise I still had mIRC on my PC but reading this jogged my memory and it's like finding a long lost friend you once saw all the time but then grew apart when more attractive, trendy messenging services came along.

I'm in the room. Nothing is happening. I'll hang round till something does...

Followed the instructions as posted by Ant to the letter.

This is all I get when I click on the shortcut....

'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.'

Any suggestions? :(

I've just recreated it on my current PC and it worked no problem. The only thing I can think of is that you haven't copied all of the above into a single line without breaks when making the shortcut.

Either that or you've disabled Java in IE (or perhaps don't use IE)

Forget pjirc!

Mibbit is an excellent web based irc chat, I've even created a handy url for you.

http://embed.mibbit.com/?server=irc.qua ... Times=true

Click that, when it asks for a nickname, put one in and press the join button!

Couldn't be easier.

There are no excuses.

edit: It won't need to install anything and will probably work from work as well! So get clicking!

Just tried this and its getting through at work (before I start working - we have flexi time).

More people in there than I've seen for a while tbh.

Woo, just tried the web-based client from work and it actually works through the highly restrictive firewall and proxy we have here! =-)
