GamesTM
With all the hype around Mr Zappback's post I thought I would ask what people get out of GamesTM.

A lot actually. Although I'm getting a little p****d off with hearing of Jack Thomson (If I spelt his name wrong... I couldn't give a flying f...).

I have been buying Games since issue one and is the only other mag I buy apart from RG.
I find the reviews to be in-line with the way I feel about games, i.e a game that scores 5 out of 10 is not really bad, just average. The retro section has always been a good read and I love the Oli Frey artwork which took me right back to younger days
I never really got 'on' with Edge, there are always a few good articles to read but most of it is boring, and a lot of the time not about the games themselfs.
For a long time there was no games related magazines to look foward to, now we have 2 a month again... joy
p.s. I love the Jack tompson (couldn't care less if I spelt his name wrong) stuff, it's like having a Jetman strip every month again i.e see what stupid things the idiot is getting up to next, the Bono letter was comedy gold.

I love the style of writing in Gtm-it's the right balance of humour.
The way it's written, you can tell that the people involved love their games
In fact it's the closest thing to Digitiser in print (high praise indeed)
They have a knack of picking the right games to review-of all the titles available, they seem to pick the most entertaining
Having said that,I would seriously have to reconsider purchasing the mag
if it didnt have a retro section,as I have a PC and most news/reviews relate to consoles

I also agree. GamesTM and Retro Gamer compliment one another at the moment. GamesTM has the whole Crash homage going for it and Retro Gamer has the Zzap thing.
The only thing that could beat it would be the launch of a single platform magazine called Revolution/PS3/Xbox360 Force that featured Oli Frey's japanese artwork on a monthly basis. That would rock. Hard. Dude.

I only got hold of that compilation yesterday. WH Smith are flogging it off for £4.99.Sabreman wrote:I bought GamesTM for the first couple of years, and it was purely for the retro section. Once RG turned up I stopped buying it.
I am, however, still hoping for another compilation issue for the retro sections of GamesTM like they did for the first 24 issues. That would be nice.

Everything. When it says Multi Format, it means it.

I just don't like any modern games mags. None of them hold my interest. GamesTM and Edge are the best, but I still skip most of it.
Thats why I just get it for Retro and even then I would always go for RG first.
But GamesTM Anthology is one of the best mags I have ever read and I wish it was available in Hardback! - Roll on GTM Antholgy 2

Since Retro Gamer has had the revamp i'm finding it alittle hard to justify £4 for Gtm to go along with the justified £5 for RG and £4 for Edge.
Hmmm. I'll see how it pans out, there's promise of changes afoot according to the new Editor so hopefully the new ideas will mark it out further away from Edge and RG.

Why not just drop Edge?TheShend wrote:Since Retro Gamer has had the revamp i'm finding it alittle hard to justify £4 for Gtm to go along with the justified £5 for RG and £4 for Edge.

Or subscribe to GamesTM and RG for £5 total a month.

I buy three mags a month:
I have been buying GamesTM since issue 1. I buy it for both the multi-platform info and the retro section.
I buy PC Zone every month to for my pc based news and humor (I was a Your Sinclair fan and that mag came from the same stable).
Retro Gamer for lots of retro information which allows me to find out more about the games I used to play and those I missed.
