Castlevania Symphony of the Night
I've wanted this game for quite some time now, and I have the opportunity to buy it for £55... It seems a bit expensive, but I know the game is quite rare and the copy I've seen is the collector's edition (though the artbook is missing).
Do you think it's worth it?...

£55 seems a lot for it if it doesn't have the art book, £40 would be the max I would pay and that would need to be complete.

Missing the artbook, £55 is too much. If it was complete and in mint condition then it might be worth a punt. FACTORY SEALED that'd be a fair price.

I love the game, but I'd more likely put that kind of money toward a PSP with a copy of Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles... You get three great Castlevanias on one UMD, and then go out and pick up some of the many other excellent retro compilations available on the PSP and enjoy your retro gaming fix anytime, anywhere!

Anyone with a brain can deduce that he wanted to know if Castlevania fans/collectors thought it was worth it. You just need to read between the lines.
The main things that make me consider spending more than £50 on it are:
- I've NEVER seen it in any retro gaming shop that I've been in (in France)
- The probability of my going to any Gamestation in the UK is rather thin, and the probability of finding SotN in one of them is even thinner
- my PS1 or PS2 are unable to play the japanese games (which sell for less...)
- the Pal versions I see on ebay never sell for less than £45... (and if there's a "Buy it now" option, it is never under 55£)
- I can't seem to find another website selling the game for less than £55...
I've checked a website giving the estimated price for every game, and it said that this game is worth 55£ roughly...
I know I can get it for far less on the XBLA, but you all know that it's not the same... and I think it would make a nice addition to my collection...
Maybe I should just wait?...

I'm probably alone in saying this but "Yes, it's worth it".
You don't need it in your collection. Buy it. Play it to completion, loving every minute of it. Play it to completion several times if need be. Then sell it on eBay and make most or all of your money back.
It's not worth having it in a collection, but it's worth playing.

It's not worth £55 without the artwork and soundtrack (is this 2nd disk included..?)
If it is an incomplete game with the artwork missing it's not worth a fiver, as you can pick the game up in various editions or VC downloads if you want to play it.
With the Artwork and soundtrack it's a nice little package to have as part of your collection.
