Raiden Fighters series 360-bound in Japan?

Post by Emperor Fossil » Tue Nov 20, 2007 7:07 pm

According to insertcredit.com (and various other sources), the latest issue of Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has details regarding a compilation of the Raiden Fighters series coming to the 360 in Japan under the title of Raiden Fighters Aces, to be published by Success as a DVD release rather than as an XBLA download.

Will it see release in PAL territories or in the US? If so, will it still be a DVD release? Will the rescaling make the games look like poo? These questions and more remain unanswered...

For those who aren't familiar with the Raiden Fighters series, it consists of Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2: Operation Hell Dive, and Raiden Fighters Jet.

As some people are speculating, hopefully it gets a release in Asia regions, that would make it region-free anyway making localization not dire. However, it would be nice if it did anyway.

Also worth noting is that a super-play DVD will be included. That's what I heard anyway.

Man I sure hope this is true, and that it hopefully its region free. I wouldn't care what console these games come out on, I'd buy them regardless.

I'd be up for some of that as well.

Dang, I wish this was coming to XBLA instead. Not nearly as likely to see it in the US otherwise. It would be a small download and it would cost a lot less I'm sure. Hope it has some sort of online leaderboard too.

Good news. I think it probably will get a region free release. It would be great if there were a superplay dvd too.

The trouble is, I think all the Japanese 360 releases so far have been region protected, so if this follows that trend then, as Limbrooke said, we'd need to see at least a general Asian release, which I believe are usually region free.

However, given MS's apparent willingness to offer shooters via XBLA, maybe it'll end up being offered as a download for PAL regions (without the superplay DVD). It's all speculation, but it'd sure be nice to see it made available one way or another. I don't even own a 360, but a release like this would add one more good reason to my pile of good reasons to pick one up.

this looks very interesting... although I'd like to see Raiden 3 make it's way onto XBLA.

The Japanese versions of PGR4 and Crackdown is apparently region free.

I'd guess there's about 50/50 when it comes to region free/locked on Asian releases though.

My version of Halo 3 is region free. I believe its Japanese in origin (it has NTSC J as the region - is that Japanese only or other parts of Asia?) and the manual is in Japanese.

What would be the reason for this not getting a release over here, are we not supposed to like these types of game?

I feel somewhat let down by my fellow UK games players.

If it has a CERO rating in the bottom left of the front cover it's japanese.

If it has asian letters in the bottom left, then it's chinese.

If it says "english version" in the bottom left, then it's asian.
