Forum front page

Post by SirClive » Wed Nov 21, 2007 1:01 pm

Is it just me that is a bit peeved that the forum front page is getting bigger and bigger?

As a regular I want to see the section headed Retro Gamer Magazine Forum, but I am first presented with...
  • A new banner thing to take me to the magazine website or another imagine magazine website
    An advert
    The forum rules
A forum area for sponsors and advertisers
A forum area with 3 sections all advertising other imagine products
...before I get to it.

I may be being petty, but having to scroll down everytime to see the main forum winds me right up.

You could always use the "Jump to" drop-down box to avoid going back to the front page...

Yeah, I think I used to be able to get the whole forum on my screen, now I have to scroll down to see it. I can only see half of the proper forum sections when the page loads. Not the end of the world, but it's getting a bit crowded and messy.

Am I missing part of the forum?.

I navigate directly to retrogamer.net/forum and I don't see any ads or anything, just the normal forum frontpage with the list of forum categories.

I'm using AdBlockPlus with firefox so maybe thats filtering it out?.

There's a new addition today, a drop-down box at the top of the forum index page letting you gain access to other Imagine websites quickly.

I jump straight in from an emailed reply, then go top level and hit 'show new posts'. Other than that link, I never notice what else is on that page.

Yeah, and the moderation on this forum is pretty poor too.

Um, might be a silly point I’m making here, but why don’t you just add the forum index page to your favorites, job done

Same here, that's probably why I haven't noticed it before now!

This is what I see. I only get the first three (and the High Scores one is only just on).

I don't know what it would be like with an advert there as well!
