To be honest, i'd be happier if we didn't celebrate it at all in our house... i'm an atheist and i've always felt slightly hypocritical but i can't get away with just locking myself in my "office" mainly because it doesn't have a door.SirClive wrote:Nice sentiment, but I love the commerciality of Christmas.

I am a Pagan. I celebrate Yule. Christmas is just the commercial aspect of the holiday. Nothing to do with religion at all, regardless of the origin of the name.TMR wrote:To be honest, i'd be happier if we didn't celebrate it at all in our house... i'm an atheist and i've always felt slightly hypocritical but i can't get away with just locking myself in my "office" mainly because it doesn't have a door.SirClive wrote:Nice sentiment, but I love the commerciality of Christmas.

BTW, this isn't so much sentimentality as disgust and exhaustion. I'm really tired of the whole consumer treadmill, and so is my wife, so we're going on strike. We're not buying into their crap this year. If I don't buy you a Christmas present, it doesn't mean I hate you and it doesn't make me a bad parent/child/friend. And I resent a culture of consumption that loudly and gleefully implies the contrary TEN WEEKS before the bloody feast even begins! Bah! Humbug!!

Probably go and see Dad at the cemetery. Then back home for dinner, TV and a few drinks. I tend to stay off the computer on Christmas day.Darran@Retro Gamer wrote:Slightly different this month in so much that it's not game related.
Basically what are you planning to do Christmas Day?

Its a terrible reflection of society that cemetaries need security guards to work on Christmas Day.DanDare wrote:Probably go and see Dad at the cemetery.
