Modern games that 'restore your faith'

Recent modern games I'm enjoying a lot are Geometry Wars and Shadowrun. I don't like most modern games to be honest but I do enjoy these.

Wario Ware (the first one completely restored my belief in gaming when it was at its lowest. Edge 7/10)
Rhythm Tengoku (just insanely wondrous, love bursting out of every beat. I can't play the clapping-geisha game in public, because it makes me want to hug everyone on the train. So unbelievably loveable I can hardly bear it.)
Outrun 2 (blue skies! Racing for non-nerds at last!)
Gradius V (so hard you'll cry, but so majestically glorious you'll never give up getting your arse kicked. Remember when games used to be hard and not be sorry for it? The last game to make me actually physically scream out loud.)
Ouendan/Ouendan 2 (not since Goldeneye has there been a game so hard to put down. Just one more song! I used up entire DS battery charges trying to S-rate a single track.)

The GTA3 games (GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories - just wish they'd released the last two on XBox too) and Bully.
Prey on XBox360 (best FPS on it so far - and not holding out much hope for Halo 3 as found Halo and Halo 2 both very dull and repetitive)
Far Cry Instincts and Far Cry Instincts Evolution (on XBox).
Forza Motorsport 2 (XBox 360)
Lego Star Wars and Lego Star Wars 2 (got first on PS2 and second on XBox)

The Lego Star Wars' are indeed superb, finally pulling Traveller's tales out of a decade long slump of writing complete crap.
