I think RG needs to update the Amstrad 664 and 6128 rarity rating.

the 664 needs to be rarer than the 6128 as in over 6 years of looking on ebay I have only ever seen one! in june one sold fo £94 !

the 6128 is reasonably common so needs to be less rare than the 664.

I'd like text and infos for the Atari 8bit series to be updated, it reads like the Hitchhikers entry for the Earth "Mostly Harmless"...

C'mon "Series of old 8-bit Atari home computers" - and then to list Zybex and Thrust as key games - was it an off day in the office the day that copy was written...?

What about:

Atari's first home computers, considered powerful at the time of release (1980). Home to many important & original games.

And then list the games:

MULE
Star Raiders
Rescue on Fractalus

I'm afraid Bargain Hunt isn't to be taken seriously. It's purely page-filler , and helps RG claim to list every games machine

The 664 is damn rare - it was only in production for about six months before being superseded. One went for about £80 last month on ebay. It's the first I've seen there for ages (certainly months, maybe a year or more).

nothing wrong with Zybex , one of the best Atari8 games I played back in the eighties , and a budget release to boot.It debuted on the atari and got a C64 port as well I think.

Same could be said the Amstrad Mega PC entry. VERY rare machine, that fetches extremely high prices on Ebay.

I've pointed this out several times but to no avail. The hardware guide has not been updated since the new RG came out.

The 664 had a very limited production run. Just a matter of months. It's rare but not that valuable (it was never well regarded but I guess collectors might think differently). There was alot of fuss at the time as Amstrad dropped the 664 so quickly in favour of the 6128. The Xmas 85 Amsoft catalogue showed that the 664 was still officially on-sale but the reality was that they were not being produced since the 6128 was launched.

Hey, imagine that! In the last issue they fixed the rarity indicator of the CPC664 and 6128!!!! Yay! It only took so many dozen issues to do it!

Now, if they only updated the prices as well...

Bringing this back from the dead.

I think this still needs to be changed in the Amstrad section.

You need to add in the Plus versions of the machine if you can put the variations of Sega, Nintendo, etc machines there. I think they're very important machines and most of the recent games and development have been geared around them with the increased colours, hardware scrolling and sprites, DMA sound, etc.

UK versions (QWERTY) of the 6128+ and 464+ are as rare as gold dust. My recent 6128+ cost me £90 and its the first UK model I've seen for sale in years of checking almost weekly. I've only ever seen one UK 464+ too in the last year. French/Spanish (AZERTY) are a little more easier to come by, but only slightly. The GX4000 is very easy to find, theres usually at least 2 auctions per week on Ebay and the average price of a fully boxed never rarely goes above £20/£25. Many sell for much less than that.

While you're at it you could include the Spanish Amstrad CPC 472, that added an extra (unusable) 8k of RAM to get around some bizarre Spanish law!
