Funny Hacks

Post by bonerlaw » Mon Jul 09, 2007 4:43 pm

Anyone ever got a hacked game (of course not, were all perfectly law abiding in here) with a bit of comedy thrown in??

A friend of mine had Return of the Jedi for the Atari ST which had been hacked. Just after you had selected your difficulty, instead of the line Darth Vader normally responds to with "Leave them to me, I will deal with them myself", someone had changed it to (in the broadest Yorkshire accent) "Hey Darth Vader, theres an Amiga owner over there!"

Genius! Anyone got any others??

I remember an Amiga hack of Star Wars that had been done in a similar manner, with the laser noise replaced with a spoken "peeow" sample, TIE explosions with a deadpan "aaagghhh, shot down" and the Death Star destruction "kaboom" in a likewise broad yorkshire twang.

There was a a rather comical hack of "Street Fighter II: The World Warrior" hacked ROM for SNES going around all the ROM sites. The comments that each fighter comes out with had all been replaced with comical but also very rude comments. I can't remember exact phrases or what the hack was called - I look out to see if I can find it again, and post some comments and/or screenshots.

There's quite a few NES one's on the I-Mockery site, the majority of which appear to have been turned into porn versions of the games.

The rather obvious alteration of the Beeb game FRAK caused much mirth at school, not least because the monsters had also been replaced by LADIES WITH THEIR BOOBIES OUT omg!!!!!!!!! Well, if you used your imagination enough, and sort of half-screwed up your eyes ;)

C64- Kung Fu Master - 1st level

When you hold SHIFT+G your character fires a gun. I never found out if that is a hack or just an easter egg.

Easter Egg.

One of my personal favourites is "Ninja Pacman", a C64 hack of Pacmania. The ghosts and Pac all wear ninja masks, and the collectible objects have become things like nunchucks...
