The 2020/21 Football Season Thread.

Post by MattySlug » Sun Aug 30, 2020 5:55 am

Gunners beat Liverpool 5-4 on Penalty Kicks after drawing 1-1 after Full time to win the FA Community Shield.
(If the sides are level after 90 minutes there will not be extra-time and it goes straight to penalties.)

Promoted Clubs entering the Premier League:
Leeds United
West Bromwich Albion
Fulham

Championship info:
Bournemouth, Watford & Norwich City are back in the Championship.
Coventry, Rotherham & Play-off winners Wycombe Wanderers are also in the Championship this Season!
Also:
Sheffield Wednesday to start season on -12 points.

12 points is going to be a massive handicap for a club like Wednesday. And it doesn't sound like there is much chance of a successful appeal for them. From the looks of it, it seems like they got off lightly as it is and some clubs like Charlton have campaigned to have the points deducted from the 19/20 season instead of the new season so they can stay in the Championship instead of Wednesday.

Frankly, I think it stinks when clubs with vested interests in other clubs being penalised lean on the authorities to try and get the decision that suits them. If you're relegated, it's because your team wasn't good enough to stay in the division - the league table doesn't lie. Trying to get out of it through sanctions against other teams is bad sportsmanship.

Today I am gonna put on the First Football Match I will hopefully watch for the Season!
It is going to be Carl Zeiss Jena Vs. Lokomotive Leipzig from Day 3 of the Regionalliga Nordost!!!

I would love to get the Aussie Footy Streaming Service to watch Bundesliga & The EFL Championship but to do so I would either need to plug in the laptop to the TV or get a dongle thingy which yeah I really should.
I just want Kayo (The Streaming Service) to get an app for either the PS3 or XBOX One.

Probably gonna cancel Kayo soon,
We have OptusSport for free which holds the Premier League Rights as well as UEFA Games.

We Plan to watch the Brighton & Hove Albion Vs. MUFC Game this Saturday!!!

Also I thought I would share this picture of an Aussie Club from the A-League, they only lasted 3 or 4 or so seasons.

We are Cleaning out the Hoarded Garage and in a box was this relic from Defunct A-League Club Fury FC.
It says on the price tag I bought it in 2012 for $2 from an Op Shop.

I looked up the early match in the Championship today and I might try and watch that instead!
Wycombe and Swansea haven’t met in 13 years, but that won’t stop either of them from wanting to grab all three points at Adams Park.

An actual, decent result for the Toon. The only spurs fan we have was utterly insufferable today lol.

Absolutely mind boggling VAR decisions in the Merseyside derby, robbing Liverpool of the win.

even worse, no retrospective action against Pickford as the ref / linesman actually saw it.

how have they seen it and come to the conclusion it was not a red card....

I can only assume that because the ref time traveled the game back to give the offside, in his mind the flying scissor tackle never officially happened. I understand that he can't give a foul if he's giving offside before it, but if a player can be 'sent off' after the final whistle or without even being one of the 11 on the pitch, then I don't see a reason he can't both call the offside and send Pickford off.

It might be said that allowing Pickford to continue to play is the harshest punishment they could hand out to Everton.
