Not sure about the name. Sounds like they just ran out of ideas.

Looks wise... Nah. Would look very odd in either orientation under/next my TV.

The stupid shape has pushed me a little further towards getting a PS5.

Stupid shape? It's a box, like just about every PC/console. A very bland box in this case, but I can't be offended by it.

Assuming that is its final design, I believe the development kits follow it.

Might just be a big giant V for 5 you put next to the TV.

They're both getting memed hard at the moment.

Ah well, these things always come down to games rather than looks. Even specs don't really matter that much these days, as I'm pretty sure you'll need an 8K TV and a magnifying glass to tell them apart in action.

Putting it down to games the Xbox one still has next to no exclusives of note, the Microsoft exclusive games are also on PC

What does draw me towards getting one is Microsoft's continued commitment to backwards compatibility. So your Xbox One games will work on your Series X...

...but I've already seen some negative comments online, comparing it to the Wii U - in that the name does not sound like a new console, just an upgrade. And I think Microsoft could have problems with that.

A sale is a sale so far as Microsoft seem to be concerned. Whether you get a game for the Xbox or as a universal app for Windows, or even both in some cases, it's their platform.

Console exclusives are a heck of a better deal for them than they are for Sony or Nintendo, that's for sure.

Looks like its confirmed, everything thats currently backwards compat on an XBONE as well as all your XBONE games and accessories will play on the new console from day one.

Be interesting to see how Sony plans to counter that. Will they even attempt the exact same with PS5 or will PSNow just be enough. Even if they try for disc compatibility, it'll take when a good while to catch up to XBox.

Guess CeX will be stocking XBox and 360 games for a long time to come.
