What works with an Amazon stick

Post by Sega2006 » Sun Jan 06, 2019 3:14 am

It's been a long time since I was around last as I was working multiple jobs at once but back in October I busted my back and then started to lose use of my right leg so I've been house bound a lot which is driving me stir crazy.

My Main consoles I can't get to at the moment but I picked up a fire stick and it's only just occured to me that it'll play games that aren't just the usual Smartphone guff, the remote however is no good for games so I was thinking of picking up a controller.

I saw the Sega Smartphone controller in Hawkins a while back which looks like a pretty good copy of the Saturn MK2 controller which is my fave pad of all time, would this work with the stick? If not what would people recommend thats like it, works well and most of all is cheap?

Thanks in advance

I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing I've got a firestick & was going to buy the sega bundle.

And the joypad is currently very cheap in Debenhams at the minute...

Although I have heard bad things about the d-pad.

I don't know about pads, last time I tried, game support was a bit flakey, though that's a few years ago. Sometimes you'd need to map pad controls to a the virtual controls on screen. Mileage may vary depending on game more than anything else I think.

I do know the bluetooth Spectrum works with the Fire sticks though and I've used that to play Speccy games via emulation, as well as being handy just as a keyboard for net/youtube access and search terms on Netflix etc.

Pad might be cheap enough to just give it a punt, I'll see if a mate will be willing to pop in the local Debenhams to see if they have it in stock and pick it up, I can always fettle with the d-pad at a later date when I'm classed as safe to use tools again.

I've seen the speccy in my local Game but I was a bit miffed that you only got a controller for the price you were paying, mind you it doesn't hole the same nostalgia to me as it does others which might make the price more bearable.

I don't know what price it is now, when I bought my Speccy it was under £30, easily worth the price compared to a PS360 pad.

You're probably correct in thinking it isn't for you though, but for a Speccy fan it's pretty neat.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Speccy I was given and playing games on it but it's not my go to system as I didn't come across it until my teens which was XB and PS2 era.

I do have one of those Bluetooth Speccy Keyboards, but I've never got round to pairing it with the firestick.

I like the idea of playing spectrum games on it but I'm not sure it's worth the faff of sideloading emulators & whatnot. I am very lazy.

Would be nice if you could use QAOPspace with the games in that Sega bundle.
