Suppose it's sad but it's also inevitable.
EDGE needs to go if it hasn't already. Pretentious, up itself industry talk that directly counters the idea of videogames being for entertainment and fun.

Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

That is sad news, certainly about GamesMaster
I've got so many issues from over the years as well as issue 1 and regularly enjoy going back through them.
The internet certainly has been either directly or indirectly responsible for the decline of print media. Though I also feel it's often a lack of patience people seem to have these days. A lot of people just want to click a mouse button or tap their phone rather than spent 30 minutes actually reading a magazine.
But I will always have fond memories of GamesMaster!

I'm surprised GM lasted this long. TBH I'm surprised it survived the TV show.
I also kind of enjoyed Edge's silly pomposity, but I stopped reading it around the time RedEye was dropped. I was only really reading it for the retrospectives at that point anyway.

As other posters have mentioned in their posts younger people turn to YouTube now for info and the printed mags are dying out

I had no idea GamesMaster was still going. This is from someone who watched the original show and bought some of the first magazines.
I've got a couple of the Games TM retro compilations. But as far as news on modern gaming goes i'm happy with the little bits i see in RG, and i check Nintendo Life and Edge online occasionally.
I hope the staff are looked after.

I concur, I tried so hard to like The Edge, and they did a couple of Retro themed mags that were brilliant. However, the normal issues have become almost a parody of a gaming mag for me - they are more interested in their own views, language and theories than the underlying stories behind games anymore.

Id buy the official playstaion mag religiously just for the demo disc
