Re: What are you currently playing?
My little website is getting swamped with review codes so I'm playing some random stuff right now.
Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron - the original AofL was dreadful. An iOS game ported directly to the PS4 with no changes at all. The follow up is much better. A decent vertically scrolling shoot 'em up with some decent upgrading.
Dead Cells - a really good 2D hack and slasher. Apparently a bit like Dark Souls. More like Castlevania if you ask me.
Warhammer 40K - Martyr. Diablo 3 with guns basically. Which is a good thing. The Warhammer stuff is lost on me but this is very playable.
Treadnauts - Worms-esque shooty tank fun. Useless if you've not got mates over though.
TETRA's Escape - a 2D puzzler that looks more like a platformer. Difficulty is pitched pretty low and the presentation is bland as hell but it's quite good if you like puzzle games with a little bit of a Tetris flavour.
Electronauts - fun little music remixer for PSVR. Bit shallow for real musos though.
And oddly I started up Tekken Tag Team 2 on PS3 to play in 3D. And it looks and plays great!

Getting towards the end of Final Fight Streetwise now and I can see this double escort mission potentially breaking me. It's possible to have a bunch of huge enemies swamp the two NPC's you are supposed to be protecting and kill them within seconds. Worst still, these enemies don't flinch or stagger from attacks which makes beating them back difficult. Plus you have to re-start the entire stage again if you die, including all of the bits leading up to the escort section.
I've done all of the side missions and bought all of the moves but I'm missing one pit fight even though none of the pits had anymore fights available before the game started throwing me into a sequence of stages that ditched the free-roaming element.
Fighting Cammy was awesome though and it's a shame that her Streetwise outfit wasn't used as an alternate in any Street Fighter games because I really like it.

The game is certainly beatable and so I did finish it but I went from liking it to hating it all because of the last part. I won’t discuss it until you beat the game though.Megamixer wrote: ↑Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:48 pmGetting towards the end of Final Fight Streetwise now and I can see this double escort mission potentially breaking me. Re: What are you currently playing?
Because I've had it on my shelf for literally YEARS (I bought it for 99p with my first PS3) I decided I should probably get started on Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
This game was clearly sent to earth by Satan himself to test me.
First issue: Would you believe there's a game breaking bug in this game that renders it completely unplayable on the latest model PS3 Super Slim under the last firmware revision? Sad, but true. As soon as the game loads the first in-game tutorial, it hangs. I tried a load of different things to fix this. Uninstalled, searched for online update.... nothing fixes it.
Due to a long and convoluted series of events, though, I'm lucky enough to own several PS3s. Three, in fact. They're all Super Slim models. One of them has a dual lens laser assembly. And weirdly, despite having the exact same firmware as the others, the game runs just fine on this one.
But now I'm wondering if it was worth the trouble. Because Deus Ex isn't a bad game, by any means. It's just... very pedestrian so far. And there are some aspects of it I really don't like. Gunplay seems very poorly implemented so far. I'm not sure if it's an aspect of the gameplay you can improve with upgrades later on, but seeing as your character is supposed to be a badass Clint Eastwood cyborg type already, it seems bizarre that aiming is so sensitive and haphazard.
Some of the AI is comically bad as well. I just finished a side-mission where I had to take down two drug dealers in an alley. They were stood side by side, and one of them actually STOOD AND WAITED TO BE KILLED after I offed his pal right in front of him.

Re: What are you currently playing?
I finished it the other week and the end is weird as anything. It feels like a Resident Evil game with the run of cheap, mutated bosses! I did like it overall (despite the myriad of issues!) but there were some strange decisions during the design process for sure.Bluce_Ree wrote: ↑Tue Aug 28, 2018 2:30 amThe game is certainly beatable and so I did finish it but I went from liking it to hating it all because of the last part. Re: What are you currently playing?
Life Is Strange season 1
the gameplay is in the same ballpark as the Telltale games but the 'rewind time'-function is a welcome and fun addition, even though it's used sparingly as a gameplay component
i'm really digging the story (I'm halfway through episode 5) and though it can get a little bit longwinded and overly sentimental, the story is quite good with some great cliffhangers

Re: What are you currently playing?
that was it, that effing boss rush! I liked the game until then but then it was a run of multi-stage bosses. It was agony to play through! Up until then though I was into it!Megamixer wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 2:14 pmI finished it the other week and the end is weird as anything. Life is a strange: Before the storm. Intelligently written prequel to Life is Strange.
Re: What are you currently playing?
Started Resident Evil 6, specifically Jake's campaign.
Seems OK so far.

Re: What are you currently playing?
I've been loaned a PSVR headset while a pal is on holiday. He was even kind enough to give me his copy of The Persistence to fiddle with.
Despite assuring me that there were a ton of comfort options, I think its safe to say I can't cope with VR. After one session where I came way feeling a bit giddy, I tried again early today and felt fine. Until about half an hour later, where extreme nausea kicked in and I was in proper fear of losing my lunch.
Such a shame. But then again, from what I've seen so far, PSR ain't all that anyway.

Re: What are you currently playing?
Just started YS vanished omens on the Master System
Re: What are you currently playing?
Got the CPC set up so its been a bit of 3D Starstrike and Tempest today.
Re: What are you currently playing?
Shock Troopers 2nd Squad - Great game but seriously difficult with bullet patterns becoming almost bullet-hell like in no time at all. Going to have to fire up the original now because I'm not sure I remember it being this unforgiving.
