First issue I bought in a while, the free cd was great. Wish they had included Hopeless which is some of the best music I’ve heard! Or some of the Maniacs of Noise’ stuff like Bombo

You have no idea how made-up I was when I realised that this issue had a cover CD...

Glad you're otherwise enjoying this issue!
Do you mind sending us a photo of the issue with your mag to retrogamer@futurenet.com please? So we can pass it on.
Would be much appreciated =]
Re: Retro Gamer issue 179
I looked at the database which is nice, but does it catalogue each article to a Magazine Number?
Curious as I have them sitting on my bookshelf from 90 to the recent issue, so if I wanna read up some PC Engine games I want to know which number features it on the Front cover.

Issue 172 featured the PC Engine on the cover, while issue 145 has the top 25 games (as voted for by the readers)Starlight wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 9:50 amI looked at the database which is nice, but does it catalogue each article to a Magazine Number?

Search of http://www.parkproductions.co.uk/area/m ... ogamer.htm gives Issue 143(F-Zero cover) with a Minority Report of PC Engine CD and Issue 111(Lode Runner cover) has a feature Evolution of the PC Engine.merman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 2:05 pmIssue 172 featured the PC Engine on the cover, while issue 145 has the top 25 games (as voted for by the readers)Starlight wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 9:50 amI looked at the database which is nice, but does it catalogue each article to a Magazine Number?

Did anyone else not get the poster in their subscriber issue? I got the Remix CD, but there was no sign of the poster.

I fancy a nice hot cup of tea. Splash of milk. No sugar.

Thanks guys!
I think I posted in the wrong thread too...doh! (I think it was the database thread I was trying to click on the phone).

Skimmed through yesterday, planning to read later on. As someone whose first exposure to Pacman was the 2600 version, I do think it’s really unfairly maligned. Also that quick feature about Xac Gaiden was an interesting little read - is it anything like Twinkle Tale?

Yep sure is a great issue.RG_Sam wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 4:58 amGlad you're otherwise enjoying this issue!

A couple of photos showing the defect sent.

Nice contents!
At least I manged to get a copy earlier than usual (see 'tracking overseas lateness thread') by buying it directly in UK.
Speaking of complaints, could anyone confirm if he also has the bbc arcade clones' screenshots in upper pages 40 and 41 and in bottom page 43 covered with a square orange/reddish 8x8 grid overlay?
Seriously, I am not talking about pixelated images...
The same square/grid pattern can be barely seen in the background of every page of the bbc article (pages 38-43).

Re: Retro Gamer issue 179
I have that. I assume the grid paper background on every page is intentional, but the screenshot grids seem like an error, possibly placeholders or aspect ratio check layers.Chinnico wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 11:33 pmNice contents!

Re: Retro Gamer issue 179
I've been busy playing Pac-Mania thanks to this issue. Played it a while back on GBA, but the arcade version is where its at with the extra screen real estate. Word of advice, don't play it on Coinops (version 8, so basically latest) on a modded xbox....its frameskipping unfortunately, so best to stick to it on a PC.
I'll get round to that SID CD at some point....

We have a Retro/pinball arcade and burger bar starting up here soon- Sounds excellent- and one of their first things is a pac man challenge. I've never been a humungous fan of maze games but I may have to study some patterns and swot up!
