Ah that's much better , easier for me by far.
I used to go to the retro show in Croydon when it ran, ive forgotten what it was called now.
There was a Classic Gaming Expo around 2003-2004, it was in Croydon. Can't remember if that was the first one or second, but at the show it was clear they wanted to do another one.

Many of us stayed in a hotel where there was also a gathering of swingers staying too. I remember one person saying they were invited to join (and passed, so they claimed), and another said it sounded like someone was being murdered in the room. We were sat in the bar and a fairly hefty lady came through all in blue, don't know if it was lycra or paint... who knows.

That was my first ever show, I went on my own and it was great just talking and having beers with other retro gamers. Anyone else at that show?

Same for me, that was my first show. I'm sure thats the one Billy Mitchell and Doris (Q-Bert) were also there. I didnt talk to Billy, didnt know who he was but there was no way on earth i was talking to someone with a mullet - some things you just shouldnt do.

I'm sure that was the show that Boyo thought it would be a good idea to make an arcade cab in one day, remember the poor bloke hot as anything as that main room was baking.

Matthew Smith i heard was meant to be there but i dont think he turned up

First retro show for me, at first i was a bit disappointed as it just looked like one huge room like a car boot stall. But over the years i kinda saw more and more similar shows and got to really like it.

It might have been the second year of the Croydon show perhaps, either way it seems like ages ago now

How could I forget, Billy Mitchell was there. I talked with him and bought some 'limited edition' CGE UK hot sauce for probably £4-5 which was a lot to me then (which of course I just binned a few years later). I remember signing some thing challenging other gamer to come for the following year, but I don't know if it happened. Next I went to something that SirClive organised in Sheffield, I suppose that was the prototype Play Expo.

Can you remember the year?

All of the events I've been to have been disability friendly, with lots of systems that can be sat and played in a wheelchair. OK, stand up cabs/pinball may not be so easy, but there's always plenty options. You can stop gaming when you're dead.

Mainly Simon (Mohcankind) getting ill from a sausage roll
That racing game being played BLOODY LOUDLY on the projector
And looking for a phone charger on the Sunday as mine wasn't charging anymore

Oh and Scott for letting me kip in his attic

Sheffield was ace. I hope The Devonshire Cat is still open.

I met Stephen 'SIR' Robertson there, and bought his pinball controller off him for a pittance, as well as acquiring some display material from a trade expo for Independence War.

Great event, though I probably drank too much, and getting the bus was a mistake. I do regret somewhat accepting Simon's pleas that he was fine, only to find later that he'd passed out a few times on the way to the hospital thanks to that Gregg's sausage roll.

On a purely selfish level I'm pretty pleased about this.

Always preferred the Blackpool events to the Manchester ones & this one being 100% retro is fantastic news.

Accommodation booked, will be my first event in ages.

There wasn't one last year but RetroVision/ROM has always been a retro only event too.
