A Game I Wish To Remember
When i was very young, my father used to play a certain game on the original Xbox. while im not quite sure if this yet qualifies as retro, i have been looking for it for over a year to no avail. We recently bought a new (to us) original Xbox and i am again trying to find it. All i remember is that You are/can be a female character, the camera angle is third person and pretty high above the characters head. Two of the common enemies are green blobs of slim that ram into you and these little jumping monkeys(?) with bows. I only remember a single frame of the game and a few various details. the game had very sharp graphics for the time, not as clunky as some of the other 3d games (if my 4 year old self's memory serves me) . Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

wow, thanks for the quick response! However, while Jade empire was a terrific game (and Kameo ive never head of but may now check out), they are not the game. I know i dont have much to go off.... but the game definitely felt more like castlevania. its probably a lost cause. thank you all the same!

Worth writing in to the magazine too, people have found success that way before.

Re: A Game I Wish To Remember
I presume "Beyond Good and Evil" is too obvious a choice and not obscure enough to quite forget? Also doubtful from your description of the camera perspective. Same perhaps for "Grabbed by the Ghoulies".
Hope you find the answer soon, as its definitely annoying when you can't quite recall a fond memory/game from your childhood!

Sounds like maybe one of the baldur's gate dark alliance games to me. Getting attacked by a blob and goblins sounds vaguely familiar. And you could choose a female character for sure, with the camera very high

Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance would be my bet too with the "monkeys" being enemies i vaguely remember on a snow level but weren't actually monkeys
(can't find a pic of that level)

If not possibly the similar Dungeons and Dragons Heroes

I completely forgot "Baldurs Gate" and how much I enjoyed playing that with my son on the original XBox. "Gauntlet: Dark Legacy" was a firm fave back then too. Those were the days!

Yeah I loved all those games and they're great two player. Me and my son recently completed d&d heroes (mentioned above) and had a blast.

Smuggins!
Your childhood mystery has been solved! Hope you have fun with Baldurs Gate on Xbox. Forgot they had these on consoles, got one of them on GOG for PC on my gaming pile of shame I must play (think they're quite different though to the console spin-offs/variants).
