So to kick off.

Avengers: Infinity War trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZfuNTqbHE8

Not as epic as was expecting but was so good seeing the likes of Stark, Strange and Banner together as well as Thor meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy. The Spidey suit was good as well.

Arent a few contracts up at the end of this phase? Surely will be at least one 'death' in Infinity Wars. I know Disney will be swallowing up the TV shows from Netflix in 2019 to launch their own channel which may have repocussions for 18 rated shows, maybe.

I was reading they have another 20 films planned. I think it will run out of steam sooner or later. Looking forward to the Ant man sequal tho

I do appreciate that they're making films on the lesser known Marvel Superheroes at least. Like many, I don't read the comics (Mainly a time thing) and I knew nothing about the likes of Strange, Vision, Guardians or Black Panther, so its cool to see them and learn more about them as opposed to say, being stuck with Ironman 12 and Captain America 20.

Yeah I realize they change some things from the comic to the movies, but even as more an anime and manga fan I don't even get time to watch/read a lot of those either.

I've rather dabbled at the edges of it, so far. The Iron Man and Avengers films are solid, if predictable, action flicks. The other movies that I've seen have been rather hit and miss, and only TV series I got past the first episode of was Jessica Jones, and that was largely carried by an excellent performance from David Tennant.

It's all a very ambitious undertaking, but I just wish it was all grounded in something better than superhero comics which - in large part - still seem to be stuck in the 1960s.

As soon as people start to stop going as "Urgh another comic film" sets in they will stop being made

Ok a few years after that

I find the marvel stuff very hit and miss.
Out of what I've seen I enjoy the two guardians films, the first avengers movie and the first two Captain America films. I find most of the other stuff completely forgettable, although I did enjoy elements of Ant Man.

Are they meant to be memorable? I've always considered them to be popcorn movies, just there to wash over you for a couple of hours and immerse you in their action for a bit, not to have any great depth or meaning to ponder.

Well, apparently the Disney buying 20th Century Fox talks are meant to be back on with Disney reported to be close to a deal that could be announced as early as next week, so having the XMen, Fantastic 4 and Deadpool film rights back and usable in their cinematic universe will probably create as much or not more buzz like when they got Spidy for Civil War....

...that and having the entire Fox film and TV library anyway.

Me too, though with all the hype I just hope I can avoid spoilers before I see it.

Am tempted by a midnight release screening, but I don't want to make that a common thing, so probably try for early next day.
