Any NES or SNES gamers here?

Post by Eight0Gaming » Wed May 17, 2017 10:11 am

Anyone still playing NES or SNES here? Original consoles or emulation?

Looking for like-minded retro heads :)

Yup got my Super Famicom and Famicom set up to my Sony HD gaming Telly over 100 boxed Snes games and about 60 Famicom games mostly lose as well as Everdrives for both. Real hardware is all I play now. All my emulation equipment is sold off except my modded X box for Mame(which is connect to TV) I personally can tell a substantial difference between emulation and actual hardware - the emulation annoys me in every way.

Software emulation can never be perfect until modern systems become fast enough to emulate at the transistor level. Until then, everything today that is "100% playable" will always be an approximation. Considering ROM files are useless until the code they contain is executed by the correct machine. Using original carts on a RetroN5 is no different from ROMs and emulators on a PC and is therefore pointless.

As Prinny says it appears most people here download every Rom they can find on android devices and don't play them

excellent!

I am a big fan of the originals. I do love new technology but I always seem to go back to roots. Thanks for chiming in. :)

I try to get The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past completed to east once a year or so, I completely love the game.

Sadly our snes is in storage currently but we plan on grabbing a everdrive for it in a few months once we are in a sport to get it set up again

Emus, yes. My original consoles and games are boxed away in the closet and collecting dust.

Absolutely, still use the original consoles, but tend to keep the Everdrive in the NES these days, have 44 boxed games for it, but never get them out anymore.

The SNES though I use the original carts, about 70 PAL, 26 American NTSC and 9 Super Famicom, all boxed, console wise there is my original 1992 launch day SNES, a switched 50/60Hz PAL machine, and an American SNES and SNES mini for the NTSC games.

Probably the most used Retro consoles i have, next to the PC Engine.

SNES owner since 1992, and still use the same unit to this day. Had the 50/60hz "operation" in the mid 90s.

I tend to only use it on occasion though, and mainly for running the Super Game Boy 1/2 (as it is better playing original Gameboy games on it over the Gamecubes Gameboy Player imo). I still love and play SNES games frequently, but predominantly on SNES9X GX on the Wii, as it looks great on HD tv's, provides reliable and solid emulation, and I quite like the Wii Classic Controller.

I have 29 games for my SNES spread across US and Japan. I've got an everdrive to play anything else because I feel the prices are simply too high now.

Thank god for emulation, Prices for games are just too crazy these days. I'm all too happy to give back to the publishers buy purchasing compilations such as Capcom Classics etc etc but you don't see many snes compilations at all. I don't have a Nintendo wii u or Switch.
I love the earlier Final fantasy games on the SNES and Breathe of Fire 2.

I have a nintendo wii. Is it possible to purchase old games on that console or have they closed shop?

Talking to a guy at work yesterday who collects SNES games, he recently picked up a 'bargain'...

And I thought the £25 I paid for Yoshi's Island was a bit much...
