Cool! Although, that means we'll probably get a Mercedes safety car test period for most of the race - or they'll delay it as the track is too wet!

Well, lets see if the new rain master - Verstappen, can demonstrate his skills once again in these conditions! Think if it was bone dry, Vettel and Ferrari would win - they seem to have got it together and appear much kinder on tyres than the Mercs. Mercedes surely have the budget and experience to catch up soon though. Kimi must do better this race, otherwise its a wasted 2nd seat in a top race car.

Actually, providing they actually race in the wet on Sunday - that is something I am looking forward to. I know the Red Bull seems a bit behind compared to the Mercedes and Ferrari - but I think the rain might help things. Hopefully we'll get to see a three way fight between Vettel, Hamilton and Verstappen - now that would be great!

Elsewhere, it looks like the Malaysian Grand Prix is coming to an end - as the Malaysian Prime Minister blames declining ticket sales and also tourism. A real shame - as it was one of the few Tilke tracks that I actually liked. Even the drivers liked it.

Let us hope that the race goes better than the free practise sessions so far. Both sessions were cancelled due to fog. The medical helicopter couldn't take-off and land because of that.

Six poles in a row for Lewisham Hamster. That's a tie with his great hero Senna.

I hope there's rain for tomorrow - and I hope we don't have any silly "we can't race because there's too much rain" situations. Let us get ready for the Shanghai Shuffle! :D

Good news in that if the helicopter can't fly, there will be a police escort should a hospital trip be needed... so the race should go ahead even if the cloud is touching the grandstands!

That's good news.

I think China has bad air pollution - that's one of the reasons why the fog or smog is so bad!

An okay race. I was expecting a bit more rain and a little more racing. That being said, Max did a superb job to finish up in 3rd. Ferrari messed up Vettel's pitstop, but he fought back and made three mega non-DRS passes. Oh dear Kimi! You got rather embarrassed by your teammate today - Vettel loses 25 seconds in the pitstop and then manages finish 42 seconds in front of you. Yeah - bad day at the office there, Kimi. Lewis did the "triple"(i.e. took pole, lead every lap and won the race) making him one of eight drivers in F1 to have done that and he now ties with Alain Prost for podiums. A very decent race from him. Hell - Alonso even managed to take that cr@ppy McLaren up to 7th - an amazing achievement! Sainz Jr. starting on slicks was brave - but it sort of paid off towards the end.

Next stop - Bahrain.

I'm really peeved that the rain didn't arrive during the race. Having a car lead from start to finish is not what I want to see anymore.
Can't say I enjoyed the race either - even with moody Max and angry Kimi

I thought it was much better than the first one, which was totally boring.

Ferrari made the iffy strategy calls (or at least unlucky in Vettels case) this time, so we never really got to see the Hamilton/Vettel tussle this season will eventually have. Bottas didn't have the best race, but I think he'll get there in the end.

Hopefully Red Bull can do what they do best (with the help of Renault and two terrific drivers) and drag that car by mid-season right back into the mix at the front rather than labour in no-mans land as the 3rd best car.

Ferrari (especially with Vettel) looks to be roughly on a par with Hamiltons Mercedes. The only concern (for the sake of entertainment and the championship) is that Mercedes historically seem to improve over the year, and the sense is that the seem to have something always left in reserve. Maybe this is the year all that changes though.

Latest news is that Alonso is to miss Monaco, so that he can race at the Indy 500. This is interesting.
