New games for the 3DO

Post by will2097 » Fri Jun 15, 2007 3:36 am

There are 4 new games coming out for the 3Do in 2007!

Ice Breaker 2. Which has been in the works for a while.
Decathalon. Basically Track & field for the 3DO.
Onside Soccer. Footie game.
Powerslide. The one I've been waiting for. (Waiting around 12 years ;) )

I think this is pretty amazing, and for many reasons I'm quite excited. POwerslide obviously is the big one for me.

So what does Powerslide have to bid what other racing games don't?

The 3DO only had one decent racing game, and it was a good one, it was the Need for Speed. Which comprised of tarmac and supercars. There was no rally game released for the system. Plus it's been mothballed for 12 years.

Hope Decathlon is any good. Not sure the 3do pads are cut out for that much button bashing.

Is it still in its original form only finished?

I thought the team moved onto the V Rally series. Have to say for me Ice Breaker 2 is a must have, lost too many hours to the original.

There are several versions knocking about from what I understand. The most famous (well I knew about it) was the wheel-less beta version. apparently the version which here is a much later but still not quite finished version.

I used to own a Panasonic 3DO & thought it was quality. A Need For Speed was superb, as was Killing Time, Battlesport, The Horde, PO'ed, Return Fire, Star Fighter, Space Hulk & Mad Dog McCree.

Yeah, it's interesting how far NFS has come from the original vision of the series isn't it?

I'm pleased that there's new stuff coming out for the 3DO. If only I wasn't skint I'd be putting a pre-order in for at least one of them. Do you think there's a chance that they'll do longer production runs at some point in the future?

Don't you mean "How sh1t it has become"?

The original 3DO version of NFS is amazing - even though it has not aged particularly well, it's still the highlight of the series for me.

And for other great 3DO games, Return Fire and SSF2T are also fantastic and very playable affairs. Too bad that the majority of games were the "FMV heavy" releases (mostly from Digital Pictures).

I remember reading that Mortal Kombat II was ear-marked for release on the system - and I couldn't stop wondering how close to "arcade perfect" it would be, guess we'll never know

To my mind the highlight is the Pc version of Porsche 2000 but even that was a brief reference back to how the series used to be.
