Jeremy Clarkson - the one time videogames journalist
Did anyone know about this? Apparently, during the 1980s, it seems that a 27 years old Jeremy Clarkson bought an Amstrad CPC(at cost price) and wrote two articles for Amstrad Computer User magazine. One was on ball games(e.g. Breakout, etc.) and the other on fighting games(e.g. Barbarian, etc). He was commissioned for a third article, but that didn't appear as neither of his previous features were that good according to the editor.
Here's a YouTube video on it :-

They are brilliant! Just read both and it is Clarkson being Clarkson. I wonder if he did a 3rd article... and has it hidden away somewhere?! THAT would be a find for RG

Apparently, the editor of Amstrad Computer User visited Jeremy one time at his office in Fulham. The editor had a Lancia at the time and curbed and burst one of his front tyres on it. Jezza had to change the tyre for him, as the editor was wearing a suit at the time.

Just imagine... Clarkson and Sugar together promoting the same thing. What a team!

Ironically, in that review, he says that in the whole of his 27 years on this Earth, he hasn't gotten into a fight! Took him a few years to change that!Antiriad2097 wrote:One of the articles is on fighting games.Sel Feena wrote:Get him to review Punchout

Re: Jeremy Clarkson - the one time videogames journalist
I can imagine that if he were to review future games, it would go something along the lines of :-
"This Call of Duty game is probably the best game(long pause) - in the world!".
Or :-
"The Skyrim game ran okay on my Playstation, but it needs more POWER!"
I think he actually likes modern gaming. I remember he mentioned that he brought a Sega Rally arcade cabinet for his home and that he plays Call of Duty on the Playstation. I also remember an old episode of Top Gear where he played Gran Turismo, and tried to go around Laguna Seca in a Honda NSX - and then compared it in real life by trying to beat his time on the game.
