finally got round to buying Blood Meridian, been meaning to read it for ages, I'm a big fan of Cormac McCarthy and it's widely regarded as his best book.

I finished a Brave New World. God that was hard going as it's VERY dated but the story it tells is still compelling.
Lost Stars- another Star Wars novel. This was a good read and it gives more back story to how the Empire worked. It's part love story but goes into depth about the people on the 2 sides of the war.
I'm going to start The Colour of Magic next as I haven't read it for 20 years

Finished the Shattered sea Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie
Brilliant stuff, Not quite up there with The First Law Trilogy but close ( must read for any Fntasy fan )
Back on to Brent weeks stuff. His night Angel Trilogy was pretty good but just read the first 3 books in the Lightbringer saga and they are even better. $th book in the saga is due out in a couple of weeks and really looking forward to it.

Hints & Tips for Videogame Pioneers by Andrew Hewson.
In it there is mention of the Spectrum version of Uridium having a hidden set of levels with different graphics. Does anyone know how to get to them? The person who coded it has forgot

Re: Which book(s) are you currently reading?
I recently finished my first ever David Gemmell books with the Druss books and was impressed. They're well written with likeable characters but they are definitely showing their age now.
I then tried Beneath by Jeremy Robinson (of the pretty impressive Kaiju books fame) and gave up 75% of the way through. I'm all for people acting a tad cavalier and crazy in slasher movies but the things people were doing on Europa and the facts they overlooked made the book incredibly unbearable so I had to quit it.
So now I'm on C.T Phillips Cthulhu Armageddon and while I'm only 4 chapters in I'm pretty hooked already

Finished Cthulhu Armageddon on Monday and pretty much enjoyed it start to finish which is unusual for a Mythos book as most fizzle in the latter half.
Since have read book 1 of Black Magic Outlaw (Deadman) by Domino Finn and onto Book 2 now. It's got a definite Dresden feel to it but more grounded in the real world as there's not an entire sub-culture of elves and dragons etc which adds to the authenticity.
It's a surprise that I'm enjoying it actually as I previously read his Werewolf trilogy series called Sycamore Moon which was absolutely dire.

Read a couple lately. Girl on the Train (ok, but the "twist" was entirely predictable, I thought). Gone Girl - a better twist in this if you have avoided any spoilers etc. Quite enjoyed it. And now part-way through the Dirty Havana Trilogy.

Re: Which book(s) are you currently reading?
I know they've been around forever, but I've only just been reading through the His Dark Materials books by Philip Pullman. Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, and now I'm nearly finished with the third of the trilogy, The Amber Spyglass. Really enjoyed them...
Before that, I read "Look Who's Back" by Timur Vermes, whereby Hitler wakes up in a parking lot in 2011. It's pretty funny in places.

Finally finished Archer's Clifton Chronicles series. Nice and easy writing style to read and always interesting.
Picked up Brave New World and The Shining last week, will try one of them next.

Doctor Who: Time Lord Fairy Tales
A decent read thought a bit hit and miss. It's classic fairy tales but altered to incorporate Doctor Who characters. The tales where the Doctor appears are good but a couple where he don't are a bit meh.
Overall worth a read I thought.
