What is with all this 'I've brought my pen so they can't run out my vote' and change it bollocks? FFS. Don't these people know what you should really remember to bring is your tinfoil lined hat to keep out the mind controlling beams of the fluorescent lights in the polling booths?

I do think it odd that they use pencils for something so important. Weird. 1st time I've voted in 21 years and all I could think about was "which twonk thought pencils were a good idea"

I've voted out, although I do believe that's a losing vote, this whole thing has been a shambles from start to finish by both sides of the argument and if our current government has no faith in this country if we do leave we should never have been given that option.

Let's face it. Cameron only called the referendum because he thought it'd be an easy win and would kick the question of EU membership into touch for a generation.

As with a lot of things lately, he was wrong. I'll stick my neck out and call it on the results so far as a probable win for Leave. I'd guess that he'll resign soon and someone else (Gove? BoJo?) will have to pick up the pieces.

Looks like a deffo win for leave then.And the pound has dropped to its lowest value since 1985.Whichever side won atleast 40-45 percent of the country wouldnt have been happy with the result.Shows the massive divides that there is in the country between regions and classes.Maybe a more independent country could bring the nations regions, classes, cultures closer together. Who knows.

So glad that censored who killed Jo Cox had no longterm reverberations on the leave campaign. So happy, gonna have a fap before work.

I wouldn't call it a "gobsmacking" result. It's been clear for ages that it wasn't going to be the walkover Cameron took for granted when he called the referendum. Still, I'm a little surprised to see the natural inclination of people to play it safe defeated in the way it has been.

What happens in the markets today doesn't matter all that much. The markets will be chaotic, as has been long predicted and widely known. Long term will depend on how the governments and banks handle it.

I don't think anyone thought it would be a walkover, but I think most people on here, including many "leave" voters, and including the likes of Boris and Farage, would not have expected this result at 10pm last night. The bookies and polls got it wrong, again.

It will be very interesting to see the next steps from Cameron and Osborne. Surely its curtains for at least one of them.

I've never liked Osbourne, but I've always just found Cameron to just be a wimp of a leader when intimidated by the eu.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he handles this now he has no power over his decisions.

I wonder just how many EU members will now feel obligated to run their own referendums, could be a domino effect. I'm not going to harp on, the votes have been cast, but I think this will be damaging for UK in the short-mid term.
