Retro Gaming. How far Back is your cut off point.
For me I stop at the Mastersystem, NES, PC engine.
Anything before that I don't tend to bother with. I will play them on compilation discs such as Rare replay but thats just because they are part of a larger collection.
In terms of collecting and actually taking the time to play them I have no interest anymore in the 8bit home computers and the IMO far too simplistic 2600. which I regret as I grew up with them and some of my best gaming memories are from the 2600, speccy, and amstrad. As much as I get nostalgiac thinking about them and seeing the old artwork on the boxes of the games I find it hard to actually enjoy playing them now.
So how far back does your actual collection start from.

No cut off. I like games, and I grew up with them from the beginning. I'm happy to play a VCS, ZX81 or a PS4 game.

early 80's for arcade games, late 80's for consoles. not interested in games on 8/16 bit computers at all.

I'll play anything. I don't tend to do 2600 often, but it does have a few crackers that hold up in the right circumstances (Warlords multiplayer, I'm looking at you).

16-bit for me. It's the time that technology allowed real depth and long lasting gameplay.

I'm not interested in the super basic stuff, ZX81 etc, but anything after that is fair game.

No limits for me.
I even play old mainframe games from time to time.

Probably the really basic stuff like old Atari, Intellivision, Colecovision, they'd be my cut-off point, I never liked them, too basic, too US-orientated and I didn't have the machines as a child (I borrowed my mate's Coleco but preferred the UK 8-bit computers of the time, it was like a really crap Nintendo). Retro-wise, I like games from machines with a lot of British history, like the Speccy, C64 and upwards but the games I consider 'golden era' probably begin with the PCE/MD/SNES.

Apple II. Possibly some arcade machines of early disposition.

No real cut off point. Yars' Revenge on the 2600 to Crazy Taxi on the Dreamcast at the drop of a hat.
Re: Retro Gaming. How far Back is your cut off point.
With the exception of the Mario Bros games I don't really play anything pre-16 bit, they're just a bit too basic and often ugly, and just not as immersive, engaging or interesting as the games since for me.

In terms of actual purchasing, I tend to avoid buying cartridge games now, since flashcarts do the business nicely (and very convenient).
As for playing, I can tolerate from the C64 onwards. Some arcade games in the early 1980s may get a pass as well.
